Pics: Which Would You Prefer; Need To Know Asap

Ok, here's the deal. I'm doing this from my phone and will make this short and sweet. I have an ext cab silvie. I want subs to bring some bass and life to my music.

I have have a box from my my sold Expie. I left it in storage until now. The box was too big and I was advised against it and to go with two 10's. Now this shop was being honest as possible bc I already have the 10's and they weren't selling me anything.

They said 2 10's in a sealed box will be louder than 1 12" in a ported box. I went to another shop and they said the opposite.

I can return these Sony 10's and get my money back if needbe. According to the box, these Sony 10" do 330 rms. The second shop doubts that and says 150-225 for them. My twelves are audio bahn. I've had them for 3 hrs and NEVER had a prob. They hit hard and believe their rms is 400. I have my old amp, still works, kicker 800x2.

Now, I'm not champion of the world music man. I'm not trying to spend $800 on a custom box, etc. I can keep the 10's under seat or go with a ported box for one of my 12's and set it behind the passenger seat where the 1/3 seat will lift up.

Now, the boxes are in the pics. My current 10's, my 12's in the mega custom box specifically for the sub air space, and the new box for 1 12".

The 10's irritate me bc they sound great under certain notes. Others it just flaps or distorts.

My 12's did great all around. The only prob is I can fit only 1. The smaller ported box that fits two stands too tall and I'm not trying to get my truck broken into. With one that sits lower than the window and a black sheet over it and my tinted windows it'll be inconspicuous.

So which is louder and more desireable in your opinion?

Tomorrow I get the other box and return these 2 10's and run the one audio bahn. The second shop said it'd be way better as it's a larger sub, can hit a better range of notes, and will push the 400 rms and the 330 for the 10's are questionable.

So what do you think?

I would go with the 10's. (1) I like the sound better and (2) I wouldn't put either of those 12" boxes behind the seat like that, they are just to big.

Take those 10s back. Sell the 12s and the boxes. Buy a subthump box design for 2 10s under the extended cab seat and mount the amp on the back wall. Buy some better quality 10s and save your back seat for passengers. .....my 2 cents FWIW....

+1.......that huge box on top of the rear seats is just pointless in my opinion......and it looks kinda lame.......not to be a jerk.

Where are you located?

I have a setup that rocked my 03 ext cab. I wasn't trying to sell them, but they are sitting in a closet.

Seriously, I have a MTX Thunderforms Box with (2) Soundstream SS10's. The box is light grey. It has been in my closet for 2 years. I paid about $600 for everything. Interested?

I'll try to find pics if you are.

+1 OR buy a JL Stealthbox. they make one that fits under the jump seat and it will sound better than any sub you will buy anywhere else....

Whatever bro. I saw a guy who had one on gmfullsize.com and I went to the shop and they had one hooked up and it sounded VERY weak. You simply can't take sound away fro

airspace and box size not to mention a really nice 10 like the alpine type x which rms is 1000 watts and 1500 max. A pancake box 8 just can compete...

As for the other gentleman, what are you talking about? $600 includes what? I think a full box that holds 2 would be a bit too large. I want at least 2 seats in the rear, lol.

I have a box that fits behind the rear seat in my crew cab with 2-12" alpine type S with and MTX 801D and it sounds pretty good. But no matter what size speakers you go with, its all about the air space and what youre wiling to deal ith. If you don't mind riding around with a huge box behind you with no seat then go for it and you'll have a way more rocking system. But if you just want some extra low end in your music without losing any usable space at all go with a custom box. I bought mine for $100.

I'll assume I am the other "gentleman" :happysad:

I paid $230 a piece for the subs and $210 for the box. The box is injection molded plastic formed to fit under the seat of an extended cab. There is also a recess for a medium/small amplifier.

Here is the box

Here are the subs

    • Not sure about DFM tech but i know there's a stop/start deactivation button.
    • I could be interested if they axed cylinder deactivation and at least have a button for stop start. I’m sure the HP numbers will be higher. I would want a longer warranty to help build confidence. I’m a less is more guy as I get older. A V-8 work truck model would be my choice. I know a few outfitters for custom additions I prefer.
    • It's official. GMC pulled the covers off the next-gen 2027 Sierra 1500, and we got the first official look. Full breakdown here: https://www.gm-trucks.com/next-gen-2027-gmc-sierra-1500-v8-trim-changes/   The quick hits: SLE and SLT are dead. The new core retail trim is just called "Elevation". Two new V8s, a 5.7L and a 6.6L built with high-performance Corvette architecture roots. No horsepower or torque numbers yet. The 2.7 TurboMax finally ditches the old gearbox and gets the 10-speed automatic. AT4X moves to larger standard 35-inch tires with front and rear e-lockers, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and heavy-duty Jounce Control Dampers. Over 60 inches of combined display on Denali Ultimate and AT4X, complete with a motorized articulating center screen and an adaptive passenger screen. Seven simplified trims across the entire model line to clean up ordering confusion.   So let's get into it: New 5.7L and 6.6L gas V8s with custom active exhaust tuning and a Corvette connection. Is this the exact engine lineup half-ton traditionalists have been begging for? Purging the iconic SLE and SLT names after all these years to lean entirely on Elevation as the high-volume core. Bold move, or a mistake? That motorized articulating 16.3-inch screen that slides up to reveal a hidden dashboard vault. Awesome mechanical theater, or does it make you nervous about long-term durability? Physically lowering the headlamps in the front fascia to improve road courtesy and stop blinding oncoming traffic. Smart real-world engineering, or does it hurt the truck's aggressive stance? What trim are you putting your name down for on day one? Drop your first impressions below.
    • My overnight hospital stay turned into five.  I developed a post operative fever and an erratic  heart rate.  A blood clot in the lungs was the culprit.  This is apparently a common post surgical complication and easily remedied.   I was the youngest in a four bed ward and a Doctor with a Geriatric specialization was in charge of my care.  All of the nurses were good and some were outstanding at dealing with old people.  It was very evident that my age triggered a different level of care!  My advice to any senior going for a hospital stay is to have a trusted family member advocate visible.  If not, you will still be well cared for, but you may discover that your voice  isn't as strong as it once was!
