Remote Reservoir Racing Shocks

Hey guys, i was thinking about installing a leveling kit on tahoe Z71 2008 ... but now im actually thinking of breaking my piggy bank and get some remote resevoir racing shocks ... what do you think ? are the racing shocks that much better than the z71's ? and are they worth it ?

I suppose it depends on what you are doing with the truck. If it's just on the street, i'd say probably a waste of money. Hardcore offroading, definately get 'em. I would think that for most applications a good offroad shock (Bilstein, Rancho, etc...) would be perfectly fine and better than stock. Spend the extra money on some other mod. Just my 2 cents.

I think the tahoe Z71 already has bilstein HD's on them .. so im looking to upgrade, but im just not sure if its worth the extra $$$

who care it will look sweet

can you provide a link to the shocks?

were you going to put them on the front only or back aswell?? you will definately see some of the shocks from the side of the truck and from the back of the truck if you do the rears. It will look really good, along with give you adjustability.

It might be a touch excessive, but it is definately awesome. I wish they made these shocks in a 6-8" lift range aswell. I was hoping they wouldnt but havent yet.. I would like to go with a remote res shock and at the same time eliminate the strut extensions that come with my lift.

Seems like alot of money will be spent just for looks and no use for them unless you plan on racing it across the desert, I would put the money somewhere else.

wouldnt be the first time money was spent on a truck "just for looks". And it wouldnt be just for looks it would give you adjustability and an overall better performing shock. Not disagreeing with you that it maybe a little frivolous but so are alot of things you buy for these trucks.

How many people lift them and never take them off the pavement? I see show trucks like this everywhere. Hell mine doesnt see a whole lot of off-road action, 99% of the miles put on my truck happen on the pavement, as with most everyones.

You certainly do make great points here, but if i'm gonna get the fox's ill definitely will be considering performance before looks ... i live in a country where all we have is desert and speed bumps. Also how come i havn't seen any GM trucks having fox's installed whereas i see FJ cruiser's who do ?

Because GM trucks have a lot more lift options than the FJ's.

Also, to anyone thinking about spending the money on these coilovers, don't forget that with 3" of increased ride height you're going to need to upgrade your steering components to withstand the steeper angles. for GMT900 trucks, the angles associated with the tie rods reak havoc on steering racks.

I guess that what it boils down to is for the price of the coilovers plus upgraded control arms, you can get a complete 6" suspension system and retain all oem suspension geometry. So unless you're using your truck strictly for high-speed offroad driving... the benefits really aren't there.

I think it might have something to do with weight ... there is no question that a tahoe weighs alot more than an FJ ... so probably ull get more from the resi shocks performance wise if uve got an FJ. It's just what i think ... not sure.
