Excessive Run Out

Noticed a vibration wobble coming from my truck, not so much in steering, but resonating throughout vehicle. Brought into tire store where they have a Hunter roadforce 9700--one of the most advanced balancing systems. They found the keft front tire/wheel to have excessive run out. They couldn't determine if it was wheel, tire or both without diss mounting and taking tire from other wheel and placing on one with problem. They recommended having dealer check and fix under warranty since it only has under 7K miles. However, none of the dealers nearme have the hunter 9700, so how do they check for this and replace under warranty?

My 2008 2500 HD had to have all 4 rotors turned at 35500 miles. The rear runout was worst than the front. The truck does not haul and I only occasionally tow a 3500lb trailer.

The GMC dealer did factory warranty on the truck. They simply took my description of wobble and did the turning of all rotors with no question.

The runout he is talking about is not brake rotor, it is the wheel assy. To the OP, the dealer can simply check the runout of the rim with a dial gauge (as can the shop you went to in the first place). You don't need a fancy machine to check for mechanical runout.

In the old days (before these fancy machines) we would just move the suspect wheel to the other end of the car and see if the vibration changed. Not sure I would really trust a shop that depended on a machine as the only way to see if a wheel is bent either.

Turning of cheap rotors makes matters even worse. It fixes the problem only for a short while and makes the rotors more prone to warpage, as the metal is thinner now. The problem here are cheap brake rotors that GM should not be using on any vehicles they make.
