Power Outlets

There are 3 power outlets in my 09 Silverado. 2 in the dash and one in the lower center console.

They don't seem to turn off when I leave the vehicle.

If I leave something plugged into these will they turn off after 10 minutes by the battery protection system or will it keep running the battery down?

I sometimes leave something plugged in over night and have never had any problems. Depends on what is plugged in but most things like a gps or cell phone charger dont draw to much power.

They do not turn off. I put in another outlet for my sirius radio and made it turn on and off with the RAP signal. Works nice.

Couldn't agree more. The little lady's Accord outlets turn off too. Its a pain if you're trying to charge your phone when you run into a store or overnight or something.

Yeah, when I had my satellite radio I did not want it on when I was not in the truck.... SO, I tapped a circuit that was on the auto off after XX minutes or door handle pull..... Used that to trigger the relay, which had constant 12 volts....... I still use it now.... It powers up the Escort radar detector.....

I basically added a fourth power outlet only it is behind the knee panel on the drivers side... Oh yeah, it also powers up the trailer brake controller on my 2500..... That way the blooming lights are not on in it 24x7x52=8736obo.... I do not regularly drive that truck any more, I only use it for pulling the trailer.... So, If it is a couple weeks before I jump in the battery has not drained down..

Look at the RAP post, you will see that RAP power is available near your left foot. Run a single wire from the RAP source to a location near the power outlet you want to control and then cut the wire and add a relay controlled by the RAP and your done. No wires under the carpet only the dash.

Problem is the outlet I want to control on/off with RAP is located under jump seat in the lockable box.

Any idea where the outlet's existing wires run under the carpet? (ie, do they goto driver's door sil harness -or- along trans tunnel to under dash wiring?)
