the 8th digit is the engine code.

What engine type is the (M) ???

Everything I've read shows you need a 0 or a 3 engine code for the flex fuel. M is just the standard 5.3L V8.

Flex fuel vehicles, E85 all have a yellow gas cap. So a black cap is not an E85 engine. Also you will have a name plate on the t-gate that says E85 FlexFuel. If none of these things exist, its not E85.

 

Engine Code M = rpo LH6 5.3L gas engine (not used after 2009)

 

All GM engines can use E10 fuel

nope. engine code M is the 5.3L aluminum block with AFM but no E85
