17inch Kmc Xd Spy Wheels-help With Offset

I am looking to just replace my stock 17inch chrome steel wheels with 17x8 KMC XD SPY wheels and need help with offset as i don't have a clue! I currently have the 17inch steel chrome wheels with P245/70/R17 tires. I just want to replace the wheels and keep my stock tires. Would i be able to accomplish this with +18offset?

Truck is 2010 Silverado 1500 regular cab LS

A +18 offset is pretty close to a factory rim in that it won't stick out past the fender. You should have no problems with a +18 offset rim as long as you choose the right tires. Now A negative offset rim will look better, IMO, but could cause clearance issues with the front bumper.

thanks for your reply man. I was thinking of just going with Nitto Terra Grapplers in P265/70/R17 as well. Should i go with 17x9 KMC SPY or go with the 17X8 that i listed in original post? Sorry i don't have a clue about any of the wheel stuff haha.

Well, a nine inch wide tire will look better, but has a higher possibility of rubbing, that is, if you don't lift the front of the truck. I have nine inch wide wheels on mine, and it's an HD, the tires do just rub if you hit a bump when turning. Of course, you could always tighten your torsion bars to fix that.

don'thave torsion bars! so would the 17x8 with +18mm offset work with my current P245/70/R17 tires as well as the Nitto Terra Grappler P265/70/R17? I may just upgrade the wheels and keep my stock tires...but then again later i may just get those Nitto's and want to make sure they will all work.

The 17x8 will work with both tires mentioned, especially the 265's. The 245's will look weird on there, but they'll work. If you get the 17x9, I would go for at least a 285. Is your truck 4wd? I didn't know they didn't have torsion bars on the newer 4wd pickups. Well, you live and you learn!

sorry mine is just 2WD. won't look as weird as the stupid chrome steel wheels i have!! lol

i believe torsion bars only come on the HD trucks?

oh, well if it's 2wd then I wouldn't go any bigger than 265's. Yeah, I believe the gmt-900 series only has torsions on HD models. Sorry bout' the misinterpretation, just don't see many people who wanna put all-terrain tires on a 2wd.

If you going to go to the expense of buying Nitto tires and rims why not move up to an 18 inch wheel? It would look better and shouldnt be that much more in cost?

finally made my decision and got new wheels and tires installed this weekend!

ended up going with 17x8 KMC XD SPY purchased them for real good price from tirerack.com tires= BFG All-terrain LT265/70/R17 which i got discounttire to pricematch to tirerack.com as well.

here's a few pics of my truck.

it's a 2010 Chevy Silverado LS 2wd. 4.8L V8 etc.

Thanks bro! I appreciate all the help. No leveling kit. i've been thinking about one for awhile, but i actually like the height it's at now and just not a fan of the height difference in back so i may just take out the rear block instead. I plan to actually keep this truck longterm so i didn't really want to mess with any suspension components etc.

Little debadging and new wheels/tires really makes the truck look totally different so as of right now i'm happy with how it looks. maybe after the newness wears off them maybe lol.

I hear ya man...

you threw me off because in your PM you were thinking of running some 275/60/20s which would rub some with a wheel width and offset like you got unless you leveled it.

haha yeah sorry. ended up changing my mind again and didn't want to mess with leveling kit etc. just changing wheels/tires would give me a totally different look. just wanted to get rid of those crappy LS wheels that came with the truck. now hopefully i can sell them. don't seem to be worth much at all.
