2004 Mirror Replacement

Recommended Posts

Posted

I broke the glass oly part of the drivers side mirror in my 2004 Sierra 1500 SLT.

It has the singal, heated, power, and self dimming functions. The mirror housing is fine, and the glass is ok, but I broke the clear cover over the mirror glass and the green self dimming dye leaked out.

What are my replacement options? I would like to keep it stock.

Is this a dealer only part? Does anyone have the number?

Is a junkyard my best bet? Should I post a wanted ad here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey mike, if your electrochromatic fluid leaked out, check your mirror housing and paint along the front fender, doors, roof line and bed. If that stuff gets on your paint and sits there, it can cause damage to the finish. As for your repair/replacement options, you can search for just the glass with the electrochromatic fluid intact only or replace the entire mirror housing unit. Either way works fine but if you replace just the glass, take extra care when pulling out the old one and putting the new one in - GM had the part number for the glass only and it wasnt really advertised but it is there. If you go full mirror replacement, count on spending anywhere from $195.00 to $300.00 unless you run across an unwanted part.

The glass actually popped off of the motor and hung down, and i didnt notice any fluid that leaked.

I'll have to call the dealer to get a part number then start searching around online.

I'll make some calls to the boneyards too. I was hoping to get out of this for under 75 bucks or so just for the glass part.

Does anyone have the part number?

Thanks,

Mike

Just the glass part from the dealer cost me $315. Ugh.

I just got a quote for a used one for 390.00. Im going to search some bone yards and put up a WTB thread. Do you have that part number?

Thanks,
