Muffler Help

I have a 2000 5.3L V8 Silverado and am trying to decide what muffler to go with. I want a single in/ dual out with straight pipes out the back. Not looking for anything too crazy loud. Anyone have experience with Flowmaster 40 series? Or would i be better off going with Magnaflow or some other brand? Thanks for the help.

Magnaflow wont be as loud outside or in the cab and it will last longer. IIRC the 40 series flowmaster have some resonance in the cab that can be annoying to some people. my vote would be for the magnaflow

i just had a borla muffler installed. it is not too loud and has a great sound. magnaflow are nice too but will be a little louder and you may get a little drone inside the cab, especially when it is cold out. my suggestion is to go you tube and search videos to see which one sounds better to you.

Which borla muffler did you get? That is want i am thinking of doing proxs.

i had a ProXS muffler installed at a local shop. so far i love it. i did not see this muffler on Borlas website so i called them and they said it was pretty much a turbo muffler that they mass produce for muffler shops. it has the same million mile warranty that there other products have

I just ordered a ProXS on Friday. Part number 40349 which is a single 3" inlet with dual 2.5" outlets. I decided on it after watching a bunch of youtube vids. The only danger with that is that you don't get an accurate gauge of sound level, just tone. I like the tone I heard in this vid and it reminded me of a stock 6.2L on start-up:

I initially had a 50 series on my Yukon and ended up taking it off. The yukons/tahoes have the muffler right under the back seat...resonance is an issue. Even my buddy's 70 series has bad drone at cruising speeds. I ended up going back to stock, drove me nuts after a while. Shouldn't be an issue in a silverado though, if you end up doing flowmaster I'd go with the 50 series. Throaty sound, but your neighbors won't hate you as much. 40's way to loud IMO
