Im sorry now i think for asking about or adding a post about k&n or any intake for that matter. I got some "there a waist of time" and some "works great..couldnt be happier" answers So besides all the bickering and knocking eachother, lets just help eachother with solid bullshit free advise.

Bullshit free advise..

Exhaust is for sounds, some performance gains, but usually only on long tube headers and true duals, ( H or X type )

As for intake, these trucks are already cold air, so just change the filter to a high flow panel type and drop 100$ on a new intake tube from air-aide.

Other useful mods are tunes / hotter cams / change the pulleys for lower drag.

In terms of effectiveness, they all work best together, but if cash is limited I'd start in this order,

1. Blackbear / wheatley Tune

2. Intake tube / filter

3. True Duals /w headers.

4. Hotter Cam

5. Pullies

I'm at # 2, with cat back duals. I spent more $ on my damn tonnaue / grill guard / running tubes and floor mats. If i planned on keeping her longer, I'd upgrade the cam and headers.

Looking over your posts I'd say you've gotten plenty of bullshit free advice. If you don't like what someone has to say just ignore it and move on. No need to pull the Rodney King thing, "Can't we all just get along?"

You've got lots of different personalities here, shit happens.

I did.. plenty of times get helpful advise, and completely understand everyones different.

it justseemed to get someguys bickering back and forth, wasnt looking to cause that..

My point was some guys were saying the intake was a COMPLETE waist of time and money.. and most of us no its really not, granted no intake is gonna make 10-12 hp but even if i gave you 2 and added some cool sound and help the motor breathe a little better/easier. why not

Waste, not waist. Waist is what I'm having a problem with. Arms are getting too short to reach the steering wheel.

When I pulled my K&N out of the box and read the test sheet (9" cone chrome tube), it said the hp gain was 7hp for my application. 7hp for $375.... I've spent money on worse. Put shorty headers and high flow header back. Should help take the air out the tail pipe. If I had to do it again, i'd go long tubes and true duals. I also put new gears in the rear for more torque to the wheels. From the list I gots everything but the cam, and pulleys (pulleys are a bit pricy, i'd do it with the cam though). Well, BB tune July 17.

the smoke and mirror factor of what CAI makers claim as gains is at wide open throttle....you won't see any of those ponys otherwise, let alone ponys don't mean much, torque is the word of the day.....best bangs for your buck are as follows in no order

1)tune

2) gears

3) internal engine workings (example:cams)

4) long tube headers...anything else really is for sound or looks

5) turbo/super charger

from my experience modding a GTO... getting a tune, THEN adding mods is a waste, because you will just need another tune after intake, cam, and exhaust
