2010 Silverado

I just bought this truck 2 months ago and already the brakes are squeaking big time, and it only has 1000 miles on it so far, is there a reason for this, I thought I saw a thread on this with other owners truck having the same problem but can't seem to locate it and I did use the search function, is this a warranty issue or is this just the norm, I mean my last truck didn't start having that problem till about 94,000 but this being a brand new truck with only 1000 miles it seems to be to soon for this to be happening already, its been raining for the last 2 hours and granted I understand that when they get wet they squeak but this squeak was pretty damn loud to the point I thought it was someone else till I had to use the brakes again and it did it again.

Typically manufacturers use shims on back of pads to control squealing, or you can use anti-squealing paste, which you apply on the back of the pads.

Definately take it in. My 2008 Sierra CC started sqeaking around 3500 miles and the dealer found some pins pulled through the retainer clip (I dont know all the technical info here) on the drums in the rear. They told me the wheels were put on too tight at the factory and the vechicle was unsafe to drive until the pins were replaced. Gave me a loaner truck and ordered the pins. Took two days.

 

They showed me the pins/retainer clips, and sure enough, the clips were not stopping the pins from pulling right through.

 

Had another 2008 CC before that and the dealer turned the rotors and drums twice before I had 15000 miles on the clock. I am not hard on my brakes and never towed with that truck so I was less than pleased that the truck spent two different days in the shop in the first 4 months of ownership.

 

My 2009 CC Z71 hasnt had any brake issues - keeping my fingers crossed (12,000 miles so far).
