5.3 Or 6.2 With 6" Lift And 35's

Ok, I am having a real tough time deciding whether to buy the 6.2 with the 3.73 gears, or the 5.3 NNBS CC 4x4. Both 6 speeds. I am going to be adding a BDS 6" lift as well as 35" tires. With the 6.2 6 speed 3.73, would I be able to keep the stock gearing? I know with the 5.3 6 speed, I should re-gear. I will be adding a CAI, Exhaust and a Black Bear tune, no matter which engine I go with. What will the difference in gas mileage be, between the two engines with this set-up.(With stock gearing on the 6.2 and after re-gearing the 5.3).

Thanks A Lot, any other info that I should know, is greatly appreciated to finally make a decision.

based on my experience with heavy (true to size) 33s on my truck with the 6.2/6spd/3.42s.... i definitely think that the 6.2/6spd/3.73 combo will be able to handle 35s nicely without much need to regear.

also remember that you get the 9.5" 14bolt rear with the 6.2 package which is much better suited for the larger tires than the 10bolt that comes with the 5.3

Is this a real question? Your gas mileage is already go to poop with the lift so go big. I'd say 6.2 with 3.73's should be fine. Can you get 4.10's with the 6.2 6 speed combo?

I know my gas mileage is going to drop. You can only get the 3.73 in the 6.2, have to get the max trailer package to get the 3.73's. Yes it is a real question. From what I have rd. the 6.2 vs. the 5.3 stock for stock. The 6.2 is pretty close to the same MPG.

Just thinking out loud here...So, having to put in a set of lower gears into the 5.3, plus the engine is going to be working harder on the 5.3. I was just wondering if the mileage(after all the mods), would be similar between the 5.3 and 6.2.

if u re-gear a 5.3, the engine wouldnt be working harder, thas the point of re gearing. now, i dont know a whole lot about the newer trucks but i know with the older 88-98 body style trucks when u got a z71 the package included 3.73s and no one mentioned whether or not the newer trucks kept that set up in their z71 package but if this is still the same i would look for a z71 with the 5.3 cuz u obviously arent going to be doing aything crazy since u r keeping the IFS and just doing a 6" lift and u r prolly gonna run 35s so the 5.3 will be fine for that. now if money was no option then get the 6.2 cuz thats just a bad ass set up. but for a daily driver/occasional off roader the 5.3 will do just fine.
