Anyone Hear With An H Or X Pipe On Gas Engine?

I was thinking about putting an H pipe on to balance out the flow on my dual exhaust. I talked to my muffler shop and they said it wouldn't help and was a waste. Anybody know from experience if it helps?

If you are going to run true duals, it is recommended to run an H or X pipe for the backpressure. We are running true duals on the SSS with an X pipe.

I had true duals on a previous vehicle and had the muffler shop cut in an "H" pipe. THe exhaust sounded better, can't say if there was any performance or mpg gain.

x pipe or h pipe wont hurt performance. was an article in an old Hot Rod or car craft. they ran a 350 w dual 3" exhaust. and no matter what size pipe they used for the h pipe. they all picked up torque and horsepower. was only 2-6hp. but nevertheless they all helped. and never hurt performance.

I have an x pipe on my 65 Impala. I can't tell you if it made a difference or not but from what little research I did it was recommended for equalization of exhaust gasses between the two banks. It also made the exhaust sound a little more mellow through my flowmasters. I'm running a 2.5" system all the way back from the collectors.

I am wondering the same thing as OP. I put on a set of MBRP true duals and it seems like I lost something from my Flowmaster dual in/dual out I replaced. I know this is just me and not the truck itself, but with the exhaust now coming out 1 on each side, I only hear 1 bank of exhaust and it really bothers me! Almost like a "miss" in the motor. I was hoping that an x-pipe might alleviate that also. Anyone else experience this after installing true duals?

If you feel you lost some power defintiely put the x-pipe in. It will balanced the exhaust pulses and you might find you get some grunt back. I did when I installed on in my trucks. Then again I have a big block too.

see i'm wondering the same thing i'm wanting to do my entire exhaust. Headers (any help with that would be nice too) and true dual it with either a X or H pipe but i was just wondering if i could with that huge transfer case the 2010 silverado has on it. Any help would be nice only so much i can from Iraq on deployment. Thanks Yall for anything yall can do.

Any brand headers will be better than stock manifolds, but how long they will last and how much of a gain will only be a matter of how deep your pockets are. About the X/H pipe...any good exhaust shop can put a full exhaust under a full size truck, if they can't, then they're not a good exhaust shop. Also, what branch of service are you in that's still deployed to Iraq? We've been done in Iraq for over a year now, and we pulled all of our security forces that were left out a couple of months ago...so who are you with?
