Anyone done an engine swap lately? Thinking of dropping the 6.0 vortec and looking for some secret place nobody knows about where I can get it for a reasonable price....all the internet searches are pulling up ridiculous numbers.

Pull one with harness from a totalled Vmax or 3/4 and build it yourself in your garage.

you want he LQ9 not the LQ4. go for a denali, silvy ss, or escalade.

When I was considering one for my last truck, I found them all over Ebay. Depending on mileage, dictated price.

Try http://www.southernperformancesystems.com/ . They have low mileage take out motors and fully built custom stuff. If you can swap your accessories (alt, ac pump, ps, etc) over, you can save some $$$. Take a look at their "Discounted Products" there is a new LQ9 6.0 and a new L92 6.2. You will probably have to call for an inventory of their "take-outs". I have bought 2 complete engine/trans take outs from them and been happy with both. Sometimes they are SLOW to respond though.

check with local salvage yards, I know a couple years ago a decent takeout longblock with ~50,000 miles (which is all you need) ran about $1,000
