Deck Pioneer 1200mp Going Into A Sierra 1500, Install Issues

I'm installing this the old fashioned way, by bypassing the factory harness plug. I dont like the chimes and a bunch of other things.

I have the speaker wires hooked up correctly with the stereo harness that came with the deck.

I'm just down to the factory Harness(s) Black white stripped wire, Theres 2 Orange wires, one is smaller in diameter and to the best of knowledge the larger orange wire is a constant power feed. So that leaves the 2 I am unsure of.

The pioneer deck has a red wire (controlled by ignition switch)

Yellow Wire (Constant power supply)~Should go to the orange, but when crimped nothing happens, No Juice.

Blue Wire with a white stripe (remote control thingy, I dont think I need this one hooked up, correct me if I'm wrong)

I think I have to run a wire to the radio fuses in the fuse box, which I  dont mind doing cause I had to do it with my old Nissan truck on some accessories I added.

I dont have a whole lot money to keep dishing out on this thing, I bought a generic wire harness from wal mart and its a fail on arrival, it doesnt match up.

any help is welcome.

I got my deck to work W/O the Harness everyone tells me to buy.  Even some installers were telling me the same thing.

The chimes dont work, but im cool with, cause i actually save a little static and ear ACHE.

I connected a red wire to stereo fuse insert(Fuse Box), then it went to the Deck constant power source which is the yellow wire on the Pioneer Harness.

Black Wire goes to Black wire. (Factory to Pioneer Deck Harness)

Red wire to Big Orange wire. (Pioneer Harness to Factory Harness)

These are the 3 Basic wires to get the Deck Powered up. THATS IT.

The rest is just hooking up + & -'s speaker wires.

I hope this helps alot of people, peace out.

I'm glad you got it worked out.

But do your airbags still work? I thought those things were piped through OnStar and your stereo and not integrating that might cause them to not function.

/might be making this up

I was also told that a lot of things run through the stock radio. Thats why you need the special harness. I know it can be expensive, but i found a walmart that stocks the correct harness with the chime box. I think it was like $24.00. Much better than the 100 for the other one. Have had it installed with my aftermarket radio for 2 years now. No problems at all.

I like GMC.

But since owning the truck i have had alot of issues (Speedometer, key ignition, tailgate, a/c, Powersteering Mechanics, too many automated light features and a few other things I can't exlplain.) with it and I can not afford to fix everything. To me its a work truck. Hooking up the stereo like I did was kind of half fast, the airbag sensors still work, even before that the air bag service light came on for no reason along with the tranie light, given the truck only has 40,000 miles.

I just wanted better sound and something that can keep my sanity while working in az, cause its a tough climate.

The stereo works but the clock and stereo can't hold memory. Thats OK, I'm a hiker so I plan on buying one of those compasses with a clock that I can mount inside the vehicle.

But, the stereo sounds great and I appreciate my vehicle a little bit more. Maybe this fall when its not 115 degrees outside I can tweak a few things and put some finishing touches on it.

You could be right about that WINGNUT, I would not doubt that, given how the electrical parts and design is all put together. You gotta go, you gotta go, ha ha, jk.

I had a few days to see how this is going with the truck and this is whats going on:

~Basic Dash Illumination still works in the interior.

~When the Key is disengaged from the ignition everything in the cabin Shuts-Off, But you can still turn on lights.

~Again, the Stereo doesnt hold memory or clock memory.

~The Battery is not being drained.

I can live with that. I'm sure there is a way to correct at least one of these this w/o extra money down for a harness, anything is possible. It was fun working on it.
