Brother found GSP tracking device attached to underside of rear bumper on his personal vehicle. He has no idea who may have done this. Is there a way to determine who the GPS tracking device is registered to?

Thanks,

He could always try to download the stored information on the device. Look at the log and see when/where the GPS was turned on. The start location could be 1) the offenders home/work or 2) a place that is of significance to your brother.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out!

Edit: Looking at the device's website, it seems it's a live tracking device that you cannot hook up to your computer. Has he tried giving the manufacturer a call?

There is a SIM card inside GPS device. Also, lithium battery pack (eight cells) plugged into USB port of GPS. Battery and GPS enclosed in Pelican case and attached to rear bumper with magnet.

Did he take out any "auto" or other loans recently? I've heard that with auto loans they still a tracking device on the vehicle. Or Big brother wants to know what he's up to. If he didn't know about it or agree to it then it is scary.

Shouldn't installing gps and tracking someones moves be considered illegal? Even if the device is installed by the company that originated the car loan, it should be illegal unless its presence was described and agreed to in the loan documents.

With that being said, if it turns out that it isn't illegal, then I would find a wat to slip it under an over-the -road truck, or under a rental car, so that who ever is tracking him can at least get some very wrong information.

I know of a guy from Florida that had on installed on his wife's minivan. luckily she wised up and left his controlling a$$.

Our government has already admitted tracking us using our cell phone GPS. A complete violation of the Constitution.
