50,000 Miles

Recommended Posts

My truck is a few hundred short of 50K miles. All I was planning on doing was changing the fluid in the transmission, transfer case, and differentials, and the oil of course. I won't change the Dex until it hits 5 years.

So, what else do you recommend doing?

front and rear dirrerential fluid is good for 100,000 miles. Same with coolant. Transmission is important. Might want to think about replacing the brake fluid.

Anyone have a "Standard Maintenance" sheet that shows recommendations based on time/mileage?

You can always look in your Owners Manual or if no manual download it here.

Lookin' for something more thorough than that. Thanks for pointing out the obvious though.

The way you asked the question it wasn't obvious that you had an owners manual.

How dare him try to help you without reading your mind

I know this. I guess people really could be that stupid. Give me a lil credit here.

 There are people that ask where the drain plug is for the oil.... you never know how experienced the poster is.

+2. That's why I didn't flame him for pointing it out.

i would change all of this even though some are good for 100,000. your diff is open to the air and can get water in it although most will burn off if you drive everyday. if your diff, trans, and transfer case fluids have never been changed i would definitely change them because you will have metal particles from when your truck was breaking in. fluids are cheaper than replacing parts so i always change my fluids sooner than they have to be change.

The maintenance sheet on these trucks is pretty short. Most everything is good for 100k, except for engine oil, lube and maybe brake fluid. I'd do belts and hoses at about 5 years.

They relocated the drain plug so its right next to the Tornado that's installed just after your throttle body spacer
