Squeaks Inside And Out!

Recommended Posts

I just got my 2010 Silverado in March. In the past month is has started to squeak and rattle. It is all over inside like the whole interior is about to come unattached from the truck. When I drive over uneven road, it's even worse! The whole truck squeaks and pops!! 5 months into this and I am not happy! I called the dealership and they don't know why it's doing that, but to bring it in and they will check it out. My new truck sounds like one that should be 10yrs old!! I take care of my vehicle, it's my baby, so this just upsets me to no end!!

Bought my truck in 2002, prior to buying it, dealer let me take it for a weekend. Truck was rock solid - tight and quiet. I can't imagine buying a brand new truck and then squeaks, rattles or whatever developing a few months later.....

The only thing thing you should hear is the motor purring.

Dealer must make this go away or refuse the truck. It will only get worse....

I bought my truck used, 05 with 74k miles, and there are a few squeeks and rattles. Would definitely expect a new truck to be quiet for a few years at least.

This probably is not going to do you any good but I thought I'd throw it out anyway. My '04 had some squeaks and rattle when I got it but I solved both. The squeaks where coming from a little metal bar that the ext. cab door clips onto at the top. I greased all the clips were the door attaches and I have had no more squeaks at all. Used to sound like a mouse in there and be so annoying but a little grease fixed that.

The second thing is that I used to hear this type of door rattle when I would drive over bumps. Kinda hard to describe but put you in mind of the door not shutting tight enough. The two things I did was clean and use my paint sealant (i think wax would work to) on the metal inside of all the door. The actual door and on the truck where the weatherstrip contacts. Then I put a thin coat of silicone grease on all my weatherstripping. Solved the problem. Nice and quiet. I can ride a long rough roads with no music and it sounds all tight and sealed up.

Ive noticed a rattle over bumps coming from the rear of mine... The interior does squeak a bit too but I think its jsut the leather..

I looked closer at my tailgate and notice one side of it has play and will move up and down, causing quite a racket over bumps. Im pretty sure its jsut the latch on the one side not closing properly and when i get my hands on some lubricant im going to see if that help it close better.

I think this applies to the noises I hear in my cab. I hear a bit of that door not closed all the way sound in mine too. I'll try all of this. thanks for the tips!

I'm not sure whether the silicone grease on the weather stripping, or the coating of the metal inside my doors fixed the issue. I'm thinking one option is that maybe the silicone grease on the rubber weather stripping causes it to swell slightly so it actually is a tighter fit. Or it was a sticking issue where the weather stripping was somewhat gripping the metal and causing some noise. I knew the paint sealer would make the metal feel all slick and glossy. So that could be it. Did away with the friction.

heck of a first post. I agree it should not squeak like that new. I would have the dealer check it out and see what they have to say. My 01 new was great for 50,000 miles then usual noises as wear occurs. My 10 so far so good.

Good Luck..

I keep several rolls of this in my tool box (3M Squeak Reduction Tape)..... Works wonders.....

I CAN NOT STAND NOISE..... If it does not come from the engine, transmission, differential, exhaust, or tires it should not be present in the cab... Well radio is ok tooo.
