can you buy just a muffler from an aftermarket co or do you have to get the whole deal?? my muffler is shot but the rest is good, would like to just weld in a new muffler

yep, you can just buy a muffler, and have a muffler shop weld it in for you fairly cheaply. Most aftermarket exhaust companies make mufflers too. I had a stainless steel magnaflow welded in place of my stock muffler and added a stainless steel tip.

I put a flowmaster 50 series muffler on my 2006 with the 6.0. It was a direct fit with a dual 3" inlet and a 3.5" outlet. The muffler even comes from flowmaster with a section of pipe to match up to your stock tailpipe. I don't remember the part number but u should be able to find it on their website. It does resonate quite a bit but I think any muffler will on the 6.0. Hope this helps

yes flowmater does have a direct fit muffler, 50 series, and like 3/4gmc said it comes with an adapter piece and you just cut out the y pipe after the muffler. I've heard of some people welding in a 22" magnaflow. Flo pro also has a direct replacment muffler, but I must warn you I have the loudest one they offer pn2505 and it is pretty quiet by my standards. It sounds kinda like stock just a little deeper. I have heard people put borla xr-1s on 6.0 and I think they sound awesome, I wish I had gone this route, there is a video of them on youtube and they are dumped right after the muffler not even any tailpipes. Just be careful because for some reason the 6.0 and 8.1's have a problem with drone. flowmaster and magnaflow from what I have heard have a small drone problem that only affects some people. the flo pro has no drone, and I guess the borla is good until past half throttle. Check out some videos online, theres a few flowmasters on youtube, magnaflow has some videos on their site, flo pro as well, and borla is on youtube

Read my post on muffler or no muffler

on my 8.1 yukon i cut out theoem muffler and replaced with two 3" straight pipes, sounded and felt better, i recently cut off the restrictive tailpipe that brings the two 3" pipes into 1 3" out

and its sounds awesome now and feels even better..So im going to leave thecats add an X-pipe were the muffler would go and run two tail pipes out, thex-pipe with help balance the exhaust coming out from each side and keep enough backpressure that you not losing torque.. and sound great.

Go with Corsa - no, it's not cheap, but it has no drone, is quiet at cruise, and only barks when you get on it.

x2 I had one on my 02 HD2500 with the 6.0. I can't see that Corsa has one yet for a 10 HD2500 CC, but if they do it will be what I put on my truck.

I talked to Corsa, they said that the system for the GMT-800 HD trucks will fit on the GMT-900 HD, you just need to have your muffler guy cut and add new hangers.

I just haven't found a cheap system on eBay yet.
