Power Window going out?

Anyone have a power window go out?

 

My pass side window today while rolling it down is making a metal on metal contact sound.  Kinda like a rock is stuck inside between rubbing agaisnt the window itself.  It is pretty noisey.  Does this sound like it is going out?  It still goes up and down the same speed it hasnt slowed down.

sounds like the regulator has a problem. take the door panel off, it may be easy to adjust/replace.

Truck under warranty? Take it back. If not, pull the door panel, hook up the window control and see if you can identify the source of the sound. Who knows, maybe it is a rock? You know what they say about chevy trucks?.....

motor isnt going out.  Today when coming home there is a loud rattle now.  I think something in the door panel fell off and is rubbing on the window.

Funny you should mention it.   I just took my truck into the dealer today for the driveline clunk AND passenger side power window making metallic rubbing/grinding noise.  They have agreed to replace the slip yoke and u joints.  As far as the window, I don't know what they have found as of yet.  The only thing I do know is ..that the little gay Neon they gave me as a loaner has got to go!!  I feel like I'm sittin in a hole.

Sounds like the same thing i have deez.  Let me know when you find out what was wrong.  I made an online appt to take it in friday (still under warranty why should i tear it apart?  Plus i have no time with school).

They've had issues with the regulator bolts if I recall.  I know I had problems with mine going up and they replaced the switch or such on the driver's side.  They also had to lube the innards as well.

Wow, please keep this thread updated.  Mine just started doing the same thing about a month ago.  Its getting worse everyday.  Since I'm out of warranty, I'll be doing the rip'in & tear'in.....so any additional information would help alot!  Thanks...

I noticed my Driver window making the same noise.  I was about to make appointment with the dealership but after a few days it stopped. Hopefully it will never do it agian or it will happen before the warrenty runs out.  When i first heard it, All I could think about was I bet it ruined my tint, but it didn't. so if it's rock its a  not on the inside of the glass.

I got my truck  back today from the dealership.  They wouldn't do anything with the driveline clunk ( says it is normal, just like the piston slappin 6 liters) and should cause no problems....o.k.??  They did replace the passenger side window regulator and motor.  The window is smooth again   Kind of funny to think the passenger window motor would go before the driver side would??  Oh well, at least that problem is fixed. :thumb:   Hope it helps with your guys troubleshooting woes.

Well you can throw a Sunset Orange truck into that category, cause both of my windos have been making some noise and slowing down some.  I need to take it in one of these days, but haven't had a chance because of school...

If you take the door panel off, there are some 10mm nuts in there that often get loose. I had to tighten mine a few times on my Z71. I also had one window motor replaced. Before long, the other motor was getting bad. They seem to get real slow after awhile.  ???

Now that yall mention it...I had that window noise on the driver's side and it went away.

 

I have to see the dealer soon.  My driver's side rear seat floorboard gets wet during a heavy rain. (Window is closed properly and the door is shut tight.)

 

My wife says she feels outside air coming into the cab at foot level on the passenger side front.

 

My best friend has a 2000 GMC SLE like mine...his starboard window is inop.  I'll see what he has to say when he gets his out.

 

Oh yeah...did I mention that my wife got HIT by a teenager yesterday.  Mangled the whole passenger side of the bed but missed the cab.

 

Still....despite the few warts, I am 25K miles and I LOVE my GMC truck!  Getting 17-19 mpg with the 4.8.  Every now & then I hear that cold start tap, but it goes away pronto. Other beefs?  Nah....  

 

Don't know if yall remember, but I battled Chrysler for 18 mos over a pinging Dodge Ram (1999 QC 5.2) and ultimately sued and won....  This GMC kicks the crap outta that Dodge.  Noooooooo comparison!
