I looked at several new 2011, 1500 series Chevy trucks today and a fully loaded LTZ crew cab 4X4 has the MSRP over $ 51 k!!!!!!! It is overpriced by at least $ 10k in my opinion. That should be a fully loaded LTZ Duramax 2500 territory.

They will keep inflating the balloon until it bursts. Then it may be too late. With stagnant wages and crappy economy, there is a limit beyond which they will not be able to sell these vehicles at these ridiculous prices. Even with $ 5k rebates.

Let deflation take hold and you will see people complaining that 25k LTZs are overpriced.

You have to spend $ 50k plus to get a fake wood dash trim?

 

They put this type of trim in every Chevy Impala, even the base LS.

 

How about some real wood trim, GM?

 

And now you cannot get the turn signal regular mirrors unless you order the LTZ option?

I would love to have a new GMC Sierra, but I just cant afford it because of how freakin inflated everything has become. It is beyond BS that everything has gotten that expensive.

Usually there are pretty solid rebates, and you do always pay a premium for leather, 10-way power seats, etc. etc. I saved $5000 CND by going with an LT Z71+ instead of an LTZ... There will always be a market for a fully-loaded, fully-capable vehicle like this though. Look at the luxury market for cars... those things get way more out of hand, yet people buy them. It was already said, but I'll repeat it, the prices will keep going up as long as people keep paying the premium. The premium wasn't worth it to me, and clearly I'm not alone, but different strokes for different folks.

I can afford a new truck, but I simply will not pay $ 30k difference between my 16k mile Crew cab Z71 LT and a 2011 LTZ crew cab Z71. Heck, I only paid $ 25k for my truck with all rebates. I rather buy a nice new car for $ 30k and keep my old truck.

I guess I should go down to Florida to look for a new truck cause that same truck has a sticker price of over 60k here. However the local salesman tells me i can get into a new crew cab 4x4 duramax lt for under 50k. New trucks are cheaper then used ones right now

I keep looking at the new ones and am starting to move over to buying a 2500... I don't need a truck, but just kinda started looking to see what's out there. I'm not sure I would pay what they're asking for a 1500 either.

If you leave off the nav, entertainment, sun roof it should be about 45,000. Then with a rebate of 2500 and dealer mark down of about 3500 you are down to about $39,000 for a loaded truck. When rebates hit 4,000 you are down to about 37,000 +/-.

 

Leave off crew cab and save another $3,500. Drop to a LT and save another 1,000 or 2.

is it that the price itself is too high or is it that it's above the price you are willing to pay? I'm willing to bet it's above what you are willing to pay.

 

If you want a "loaded out" truck, it is available. Trucks have more "bells and whistles" now available than ever before, why not compare apples to apples.

 

Give a complete options list for both trucks. Stating that you have a 2006 LT doesn't mean crap. In 2006 a "base LT" truck didn't even guarantee leather seating, it was nothing more than a high end "LS" in comparison to the '03 model year.

 

For a truck to be a "50k truck" you are throwing in features such as navigation, sunroof, etc. I seriously doubt you are making a fair comparison.

If it's more than you want to pay, it's simple: Keep your current truck and call it good. To be fair, the market for new trucks is more appealing; it's possible to buy new off the lot for only slightly more than a used truck. I just bought a '10 LT ext. cab. Didn't want crew, don't need Nav/etc/ad nauseum, wanted to move back to cloth rather than leather. I ended up out the door (in a state with 9% sales tax and exhorbitant licensing fees) for a hair over $26k.

Very true... if you can live without the LTZ badge and go with a loaded LT and still get about $6-7k off of MSRP... you're shopping smart.

 

I just bought my Serria right at that price and manage to get a fully loaded truck without the big price tag.

 

And I totally agree with pm26, fake wood, turn signal mirrors... not to mention no more air vents in back of center consoles. Why would anyone buy a LTZ. lol
