I Recently purchaces a used 3500 Silverado, and have noticed that some of the controls dont work or dont work as i would think they should. I am wondering if there is a way that i can reprogram them to work properly or even restore factory defalts of those items without going to a dealership ... as i dont trust them around here. I was hoping to find a program i could install on my laptop to hook up to the obd2 port. my problems are as followes.

1. doorlocks dont lock when put in to gear or after traveling beyond 8 mph... which i believe it should, doesnt bother me too much but noticed it.

2. user settings ... got control for it have seen display for user... but no settings to be able to set or no diference in users..

3. trip button on steering wheel does nothing... have to access all through knob in dash.

ok its late cant think of other items but if i remember there are a few others dealing with the buttons on steering wheel... non radio

So any ideas of a program ...and or ways of programming it properly with out dealership... i have heard something about possibly a jumper wire and using turnsignal for programming ??

there are no laptop programs for what you're talking about. any changes can only be done with the tech2, which the dealership has. but i think all of your problems can be solved without programming.

1. I believe there is a setting somewhere to disable or enable this feature, just mess around with the dic i believe its in there somewhere

2. the truck identifies users by what key they use. (it recognizes the code in the keyless remote)

3. probably need to replace the button. By buddy's button also died on his steering wheel... now that i think about it that dead button might be the reason you cant find the menu for 1^ i was talking about

Changes to the BCM can only be done with a program from GM downloaded to the tech 11.

Hello,

I'm having a similar problem. I just picked up a used 03 Escalade, and none of the buttons to access the driver information center work. The lights don't work in them either. Where can I start troubleshooting? thanks!
