"smooth Ride" Vs "trailering" Suspensions

Can anyone tell me the differences between these? is it just shocks? Springs? brakes? what is it exactly??

 

im most interested in the 99-2006 1500 models.

Drivers side front shock, passenger side rear shock, front passenger side shock and rear driver side shock.

Shocks are different,thats it,everything else is the same between Z83 & Z85

When I bought replacement shocks they didn't ask me if I wanted smooth ride or trailering. I ended up getting Monro Reflex Monotubes all the way around.. i haven't towed anything with them yet, hopefully they work well. Looking at the Monroe site they recommend Sensa-Trac Load Leveling in the back for towing larger loads, and Reflex Monotubes for front

I also have replaced my original shocks for the Monroe Reflex Monotubes. After 69K miles the originals were getting "tired". I was hoping to get the Sensa-Trac Leveling shocks for the rear but they were always out of stock. The new shocks might be slightly stiffer (or could be me) than the original stock ones. It was great to get the "truck" feeling back to my ride, no extra bounces over bumps. I've towed/hauled a few times (light to medium loads) since the change & noticed the difference from the old, "tired" shocks. I think you will have good luck with your new shocks.

Aren't the OEM shocks "electric" when you get trailering mode? Are the monroes you get for replacement also electric adjustable?

No,Your thinking of the manual selectable damping suspension system (RPO code ZX3 or FW1) thats totally different from the Z83 or Z85 suspensions systems.
