Just recently bought an 09 sierra 2wd CC SLE1 with 17" alloys. Want to upgrade to OEM 20" wheels but had bad experience with 20s on previous truck. Had a 2000 RCSB silverado with OEM SS wheels. The truck looked killer and rode well on smooth roads but it jumped around alot on rough roads. Seemed like the added weight 20s could not be controlled by the suspension even with bilstien shocks. The 20" combo weighed about 40 lbs more per corner. Has anyone made this change on the 09 CC and have feedback? Do trucks with original equipment 20s have heavier duty shocks. Dont want to make the same mistake.

I too had the SS wheels on my 1999 RCSB and had some of the same issues. I live in the country and the crappy chip and seal backroads were a trip. The weight shouldn't bother ride quality nearly as much as the slimmer sidewall of the tire. The longer body of the CC should level out that ride a bunch, and the new suspensions on these GMT 900's is leaps and bounds better than previous years.

Sorry for rambling but I have had two RCSB's and they both just rode like grain carts. Even my second one that was lifted on 33" BFG's on 16.5" wheels. The rear end loves to bounce.

The 20's will look much better for sure and you don't need to be concerned about the ride at all. My truck handles surprisingly well, and my wife's 07 Tahoe has the factory 20's and it has a great ride.

The GM manual says to not be off-roading with 20's (paraphrased). The stock 20's with the stock tires are a fairly short sidewall, especially compared to "Blackout07"s 325's, almost a 2" difference in sidewall...more comparable to to the stock 18" tires which GM has no problem with being off-roaded.

Stock 17" vs stock 20" with stock tires...20's will perform better on road and feel tighter...

I had a set of 20" BOSS wheels. It jumped around because the tires were wider, not because of the height/weight. The wider tire over bumps has a mind of its own sometimes.

Stay with the 17", having more sidewall rubber showing makes it look more like a truck then those big rim and small sidewall wheel trucks makes them look wimpy and fragile.

I got rid of my factory 20's and stepped down to 17's. I'll never go back to 20's. Some guys love 'em, but they're just not for me. :dunno:
