I recently had my rear brakes replaced ( Shoes & machined drums) at 65,000 KLMS on my 2007 Silverado. The Dealer indicated I had less then 2 mm on the brake shoes yet my front discs still had 6mm. I don't do excessive towing other then occasionlly my sons boat and my trailer . On my last truck (2001 Chevy 1500HD) I replaced the rear brakes (disc type) at 95,000 KLMS. I just found it odd that I needed to do the rear brakes at 65k this time.

Does this sound as normal wear?

Any feedback would be appreaciated.

Thanks

The rear shoes on these trucks are thin to begin with. They don't ware that much. I have towed a camper for 6 years and still have my originals. There is a possibility the dealer just needed to make a little money. Pull a drum off and measure the new shoes so you will know in the future how much they have worn.

You ever accidentally run with your emergency brake on? That does sound very early for rear brakes.
