Tire Pressure Question

Well, I got my Wrangler AT/S LT265/75/R16's installed.  They look much better than the stock Firestone P265/75/R16.  The guy at the local place to keep 'em at what the label on the truck said 35PSI.  They look kinda baggy on the sides.  Should I leave them at that pressure or raise it?  Thanks.

   On the side of the tire should be the cold PSI rating.On my 265/16 wild countrys it says 65psi I started out with 40 in the rear and 45 in the front and then I watched the wear on them closely,what I ended up with is 50 in the front and 45 in the rear.yours will be different.Steve

Like an earlier post said, go by the cold pressure info on the tire sidewall.  There are so many different pressures involved w/ the brands and types of tire, particularly when you go w/ LT vs passenger rated tires.

 

Then you can adjust incrementally after you get a feeling for tire wear patterns and ride quality, etc.  Don't run your LTs too soft though, especially if towing/hauling - the heat will kill them fast, not to mention being dangerous.  

 

My general rule of thumb (when towing/hauling loads) is to adjust the pressure such that the warm reading doesn't exceed the cold pressure max listed on the sidewall, just for some margin of error.  :cheers:  :chevy:

 

BTW, keep us posted on how those AT/S tires are - I'd consider them next when my Duelers finally need replacing.
