Hid Lights

Are those pictures taken with both the low beams and fog lights on? Are you running any relays with your kit?

 

That's only low beams... been real busy & haven't had time to install fogs. =/

No relay's... straight plug-n-play setup.

 

 

Ques: when I unlock doors and start truck at night, HID's are turned on/off/on pretty rapidly... this ok?

I went through the DIC and disabled the "illuminated entry" or whatever it was called, as it is my truck is always parked in a garage at home or at work so they will be on at least once every time I drive my truck during the week, I don't need another 2-3 light cycles added to that.

Ok, I thought there were only low beams. I like to see pictures once you installed the HID fogs. I have a problem of mine not coming on at times. I order a relay harness hoping this will cure the problem, I should have it installed by the end of this week.

 

I have my fuse taken out for the DRL, so mine only come on once. It shouldn't be a problem of them coming on/off/on like that. Some guys on here had their HID for years without any problems.

the quick on and off when you unlock the car is fine, it may cause a slight strain on the bulbs over a long period of time, i wouldnt worry about it. mine have done that for years.

 

make sure you remove the DRL fuse in your truck

So, if you take out the DRL fuse, do you still need to install the relay kit?

not usually no for our trucks, if you experience flickering you could purchase it later on or make it yourself, its a pretty simple harness. inline fuse, power source to battery, simple ground

Well, I already have the relay so I think that I will just put it on since I have it. Cant hurt I guess.

Has anyone running these in their fogs (5202 bulb) had any problems with the stock plug not matching up to the plugs that came in the kit???

 

if so what did you do? Mine doesnt match up so I will probably just cut off my factory plug and splice the wire to the wire that came in the HID kit, thats what Matt suggested.

Seems pretty straight forward. Since the DRL's in a '99-06 are separate bulbs from the headlights that shouldn't be a problem. My only concern is that with the auto lights, when I turn the key my lights come on, then when I hit the starter the lights will lose power then regain it after it's running. Would this be a problem?

did you ever get that figured out? i hope you tried to shave the spade connectors down first before cutting your sotck plug off like i suggested!

My only concern is that with the auto lights, when I turn the key my lights come on, then when I hit the starter the lights will lose power then regain it after it's running. Would this be a problem?

 

i dont believe mine lose power and then regain when the engine is actually started. anyways, if it does, mine has been problem free for years now, on all of my cars. you'll be fine man

havent had a chance to mess with it yet, I am going to try tonight if it doesnt get too cold. I bought some heat shrink connectors if I have to cut the plug.

I have an 09 sierra so I should order one of the H11 slimline or raptor kits right?

 

Now for the fog lights I should order the H16 kit correct?

 

Questions...

 

Does slimline vs reg kit make a difference?

 

Do I have to order two separate H11 sets if I want to do the high beams as well?

 

Do I need a slimline kit for the fog lights for any reason?

 

Do I need any additional materials?

 

Where have you all determined is the best place to mount those box deals that are in the wiring?
