5202 Raptor kit, 35W, 6k (foglights)

If anyone knows where the relay for the lows is on the website please let me know so I can order these, thanks!

i actually thought it was illegal to put HIDs in projectors? i may very well be wrong, but i recall seeing a post about someone that bought projector headlights and they had a sticker on the back saying do not use HIDs? again could be wrong.

if anything, i actually believe that HIDs in projectors are worse than normal headlights, we got 2 guys rollin around in big ass lifted dodges with projector 55w HIDs and you gotta have a pair of polarized sunglasses to see a damn thing if one of them are comin at you and both are in the 8000k area.

I have a 4 beam HID conversion from ddmtuning.com 5000k and love them, they are beyond comparison and i havnt managed to piss anyone off with them yet other than the one time i forgot i had my brights on and mine are set in normal composite housings, i actually drove against my dad in my truck the other night and he said he didnt mind the HIDs one bit comin on and he moans about the blue ones all the time. Hell i drove against my cousin in a lifted duramax with 35w 5000k hids and i didnt even know they were HIDs until he told me...

just my point of view, but may be helpful to some people...

I put up a post about some projectors headlights I got on e-bay that had a sticker on them saying no hid's

Uhmm........ No. Im pretty sure its the other way around. If you have HIDs their supposed to be in projection lamps

I'm just telling you what mine said when I got them in

see that doesnt make much sense to me...projection lamps have a much more focused beam and its USUALLY right in the oncoming drivers face which would make them seem THAT much more blinding, where as normal composite housings keep a good spread pattern thus making them slightly less blinding...i've never truly had a problem with HIDs in composite housings, i actually find them to be less obnoxious than projected HIDs

just my logic based on my experiences, no one ever said it was right or wrong or anything like that, feel free to criticize and call names it dont bother me :P

HID's are meant to be in projectors. Thats why you will only find HID's in projectors from the factory on certain vehicles and never in a halogen housing.

I do have DDM HID's in my stock housing tho... but i also have them aimed down so i dont blind others with the minimal light scatter .

Also.. The reason for the sticker on the projector housing is because of the amount of intense heat generated from the hid bulb. You can usually get away with 35w in projectors , but going with a 55w is a risk of projector meltdown.

Not all vehicle headlights are the same as far as glare. The GMT-900 seems to be pretty good at keeping the glare to a minimum. That said, I put my HID's in projectors. ACTUAL HID projectors that I retrofitted into new housings. Halogen projectors which come in ALL aftermarket non-HID vehicle housings are not meant to have HID's in them. Both because of heat, and more importantly the reflector bowls and shields aren't designed for them. I've never been flashed and know I'm not blinding people. You might think you have good output and I'm sure its better than stock, but its nowhere near what it should be. Also, the bulbs and ballasts make a big difference. I had the DDM 6000k kit for a while and quite honestly it sucked. I thought it was good until I had a real setup with quality bulbs and ballasts. I first had 5000k Morimoto bulbs and then switched to 4300k Phillips OEM bulbs. The difference is huge. The old adage that you have to pay to play is true.

Hey guys i kinda skimmed over this whole thread, and i am really interested in an HID kit for my 2005 Silverado 1500.

Is this the kit im looking for?

http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-...last-35W-or-55W

I am also wanting 8000k's if anyone has an opinion on that.

And what bulb type do i need? i have absolutely no clue and there are a billion choices. H1 H6 H7 etc... What one do i need for my truck?

And do i need any harnesses' or anything?

This is for a 2005 silverado.

Thanks!

You can go with the slim (your link) or the Raptors. The recommendation is to stay with 35w, not really a need for much more. And it looks like your lights are as follows:

Lows - 9006

Highs - 9005

Fogs - 9145 (which looks like is equivilent to HB3/9005, but I'd double check with that)

Sylvania Light Replacements

Thanks very much, so in the link at ddm the choice 9006/HB4 is what i need for my truck?

Well, I finally got them installed yesterday. My first impression on the DDM 6000K lights were a bit too blue. They really lit-up the road and definitely have their own color. I drove around town for about 2 hrs and apparently they were not too bright; not once did anyone flash me. Nonetheless, I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Now for the bad, it looks like I will need a relay harness. Half the time the lights will not come on. I have to turn them off and back on again to make them work. You guys don't think it's bad to leave it alone like that until I install a harness?

Hey Mark, I have 6000k in my 2008 GMC SLT for over 2 years now. I love them. I also put 3000k in the fog lights.

There use to be a guy on here with a forum name of "DADDY" he did a great write up on a a mod to make 9005 type HID bulbs fit the fog lights. No mod to the housing, just the lamp and harness. It was real easy and only took about 1 hr. to do. I have had 0 issues with my HID's and bought them both off of ebay for like $50.00.

The other thing to remember is to pull the 2 DRL fuses in the box under the hood. Labeled DRL1 and DRL2. Your auto lights will still work. This will prevent a low voltage condition to the ballast's.

I don't have a relay, but I do know a lot of guys that do. Either way once you get use to all the extra light, and ride in something with Halogen lights, you will really see the difference. I have a really hard time driving without HID's now.

    • I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome.
