anyways, im glad to hear the relay harness worked for you up there buddy, like i said, i rarely find it to be necessary on our trucks, however if you did not remove your DRL fuse then you would be experiencing those issues for sure as the DRL voltage is not enough to ignite the ballasts properly, youre lucky you didn't damage your kit!

 

and almost every DDM kit is plug and play, however certain models do have different female connectors. Unforunately it seems that our h16 fogs are a little thinner than the spade connectors. Like said previously, just shave down the spade connector if you're worried about saving your plug!

 

and lastly (i think) DDM kits are so cheap because we cut out the middle man! Not much to be worried about with a lifetime warranty on EVERYTHING! Enjoy!

 

So if I use the relay harness with the DDM kit do I need to remove the DRL fuse?

 

Will this make my HID lights on all the time? (I could swear that my lows are not my DRLs but my truck is in the shop so I can't check right now, I thought it was my marker lights)

 

Am I going to get a code or warning light or anything with the DRL fuse removed?

 

Can anyone tell me ofr sure if my 09 uses lows for the DRLs? Does anyone else's use the marker lights?

regardless if you use a harness you should still remove your DRL fuse. no you wont get a light or throw a code. and if your truck uses your market lights at DRL then just leave it be

Yes DRL's uses the same low beam bulb. No you won't get a code by removing the fuse. Its all preference to remove your DRL fuse, but the on/off cycling of the ballasts is what degrade their life. So for that... The main two reasons you want to remove your DRL fuse.

 

1. It conserves the HID bulbs/ballasts life span.

 

2. DRL's doesn't get all 12v from the factory harness.

 

And one more thing, I would recommend disabling the entry/exit lighting through the DIC.

HA!

 

Okay I get it. I'll try it without the relay and see if I get any flickers. I wil remove the DRL fuse (if in fact my lows are used for DRLs and not my markers). I will disable entry/exit lighting from my DIC. This will happen once the connector is not on backorder from GM, so... I'll let you guys know in like 6 months... :lol:

The connector I am referring to is for RAP, not related to this mod but part of a bunch I am doing together, didn't want to confuse anyone by making them think there is a connector you need for this! :sigh:

Yea - I ordered from xenondepot; paid the extra $$ so I would avoid all the issues of the "cheap eBay" kits. Had a bad ballast right out of the box. If any of y'all have installed on an 07-11 Tahoe, you know how much effort to get to the bulbs. I had a couple of hours in before finding the problem. Should have tested first, but I assumed these would be good ones. :lol:

 

I was not a happy camper. When I tried to contact them, it went straight to voice mail that told me "mailbox was full - call again".

 

I DO NOT recommend spending the +$100 from these guys. I bought a $39 kit from eBay and had less trouble???

Which color output HID most closely matches the stock factory light color?

3000K?

4500K?

 

I want HIDs for my fogs but I want them to match the color of my factory low beams as close as possible.

5000 are pure white, no blue. 3000 are yellow. 4500 somewhere in between.

i have been using ddmtuning for about 4 years now, their kits are great and cheap. i have a kit in my snowmobile, and i had 2 kits in my tbss before i sold it. i just ordered 2 kits for my new silverado. installing them is easy guys, just take your time and make it look professional

Hey All ...

 

I have a 2004 Silverado SS. I have installed Rikensport 993's 35w - 6000K HID's in both my Low and High beams. I also have done the 4-High Conversion on my headlights. When I go to High Beam, all four HID Headlights illuminate the roadway. :smash::fume:
