Need Some Help On New Wheels...

Howdy I have 2009 GMC Sierra all terrain, with BDS 4 inch and right now the stock 18's and a set of MT ATZ LT305/60R18

 

I just saw a set of wheels on a truck for sale at the dealership and they look badASS!

They are eagle alloy wheels series 079

The model I want is the super black finish 20x9

 

However I do not know which one in this chart is right for my truck

Which pattern is correct?

 

Will these fit without any problem with a new set of 33's or 35's?

So I did some searching and it looks like my truck is 6 on 5.5

20x9 6-5.5 -12 4.47 0792-2966-1 $211

this looks like the wheels I need,

any idea if these will fit with 35's on a 4 inch lift? what about 33's?

You're not getting 35" on the truck with the 4" unless you get a 3" body lift or some MAJOR metal trimming.

 

 

Those rims have a 4.4 back space so they're going to stick out a good bit also. 

 

The 33x12.5x20 or 305/55/20 will fit fine with the 4" BDS.

The stock tires on mine are 32" so how come a 4" lift wont fit 35" tires? 32" to 35" only equals +1.5" on any side of the rim. Is it becasue of the shape of the wheel well? I'm not doubting you, I'm just trying to understand.

My front right now sticks out just a little bit - what is the backspacing on the stock all-terrain wheel?

how much more would these wheels stick out?

I don't know the technical reason's but I put a 6" BDS on mine with 35x12.2x18 ATZ's and I had to trim some plastic. Added a 1.5 body lift so without some serious cutting 35's won't fit with the 4".

My wheels are 4.75 back space 12.2" wide tires and they stuck out at least 2 inches. The more they stick out the more chances of rubbing the way I understand it. 

 

 

 

 

With those wheels, be prepared to trim some metal even with the 4" BDS and 305/55/20s.

 

Matt is the resident expert in lift and tire matters so listen to him. If he say's you gotta cut metal better find another back space wheel.

Yeah man, it basically has to do with the width and backspace of the wheels.

 

 

A common combination for these trucks is a 3" body lift and 2" leveling kit with 305/55/20s on 20x9 with 5.7" backspace. This is like the "ideal" budget lift setup and quite a few members here are running it.

 

But, with their net of 5" lift and even a high backspace figure of 5.7", theres still instances of slight rubbing; probably due to variations in actual tire sizes. If these guys tried running a wheel with an inch less backspace, they'd need to trim some metal. And if you decrease the liift height to 4", make that even some more metal :eek:

 

It can be done.... but trimming will be required.

 

For 4" of lift and 305/55/20s and a 9" wide wheel, i'd definitely shoot for +0 at the minimum and +18mm ideally for the offset (5.0 to 5.7 backspace). With the +0mm you'll probably still need to trim some metal, but it'll be more manageable than if you go with the -12mm offset. And with the +18mm you still may need some trimming, but its likely to be some minor plastic modifications with a razor blade.

Are those numbers the same for the 18 inch wheel as well?

This is the 18 x 8.5

18x8.5 Super Finish Black 6 on 5.5 +20 mm 5.475

 

The 18x9 has the same offset and BSM as the 20x9 (-12mm , 4.46)

 

My current wheels are 18 so I could be happy with that size instead of the 20 if it fits easier.

The diameter itself doesn't matter. Its all about the width and backspace.

 

And yes, an 8.5" wide wheel with 5.5" backspace will be good..... a hell of a lot better than 9" wide wheels with 4.5" backspace

+1. Those wheels with 35's and 6" of lift would cause you grief.

 

Nice looking wheels though.
