Torsion Key Problem

Anyone have any problems with trying to get yours keys off your torsion bars after unloading them and taking the adjuster out?

Its like the keys are almost seized on there

Lots of pb blaster and a big hammer, it's gonna take awhile but they will come out. Have a buddy there so when you get tired he can take over

The shop that did my install used an air hammer. I'm not sure if they used any heat on the old keys to get the hole to enlarge.

Penetrating lubricant (of your choice) and a big hammer or good air hammer.

 

I always break them loose in the control arms first by twisting them back and forth with a pipe wrench. That seems to help but they are almost always siezed in the keys. Never had a set that I had to heat yet but my PH2060E Snap-On air hammer doesn't lay any mercy to anything that I've put it up against yet anyway so....

i used a propane torch to heat them up and a 10lb hammer. also try hitting them toward the rear of the truck, then back toward the front

i have an 02 and they were so stuck i just drenched it in pb blaster for two days took an air hammer and went all out on it then took a big hammer and knocked it off. just takes a little muscle
