Drove With Parking Brake On For Over 20km Going Over 100km/h......

Hey so I forgot to take the parking brake off before taking off in Auto4x4 in the snow. I drove over 20km then stopped for coffee and smelled a nasty burning. I realized my parking brake was on...... Anyway my brake pedal is now going right to the floor to get a good grip on the front brakes. I think my back brakes are toast. They are rear drum brakes, so I think I might just have to replace them. Any suggestions would help.

Sounds like you already know what's going on. Where's the question? I still don't see how your truck doesn't flash and ding at you like crazy, mine is 6 years older and even does that.

Your rear shoes are likely shot. You'll have to see how everything else looks when you take the drums off

You'll also want to drain out the brake fluid and get some fresh fluid in there.

Yep! Mine dings like crazy if I even attempt to drive forward a couple of feet. Not sure what the OP did, but mine would annoy the crap out of me if I went that far with the brake on.

My truck barely wants to move with parking break on and if i force it it sure dosent sound healthy.. :nopity:

Besides the dinging, there's also the instrument panel light. Maybe the OP needs to replace the bulb in the panel if it's out.

The original post asked for help.....so to answer that directly, yes, you most likely while have to replace the rear brakes. I would regardless. And as suggested, changing the brake fluid would also be a good idea.

If it was that hot I'd probably add new return hardware to this list.

Plus new wheel cylinders.

BTW, the self adjusting mechanism for the rear brakes works only when you brake while moving in reverse. Do this several times and the brake shoe adjuster will compensate for the brake shoe wear and move them closer to the drum. This will probably greatly improve the brake fell. Maybe you do not need to replace the rear brake shoes. It makes sense to check though.
