Slamming Doors

I drove to lunch yesterday with my boss and he apparently felt the need to slam my truck door as hard as possible. Now my door sounds different when it is shut. The best way to describe the sound is that it doesnt seem to be as cushioned anymore.

 

Can slamming the door cause damage, if so what should I check?

I can't imagine the seal being damaged, and not easily visible. The only thing I could think of, is if the door is out of true, which might not be noticeable just by looking.

I hate when people slam doors. Do they also jam their zippers up to make sure they close. People are so lazy. I could understand if I have an old beater but really. Do they slam the toilet seat down to make sure no one smells the shit that a piece of shit like them makes! Damn door slammers!

 

Whew...sorry my anger management class doesn't start until 6pm tonight.

I hate door slammers too, but you really cant yell at people about it when they are your boss.

One or two slams are not going to hurt anything, sure everyday over a number of years will take it's toll. Next time tell your boss not to slam the door, it's not like he is going to fire you for saying it.

most likely what he did was knock either the latch mechanism on the door, or the door striker bolt out of whack..

 

if you look at the latch mechanism on the door there are 3 Torx bits that hold it in place, and it has a little play for alignment purposes. chances are the hard slam pushed the latch back a mm or 2 and now it is not striking the striker bolt correctly..

yes i too hate door slammers...i also hate the people that yank hard on the handles, my passenger side handle now won't go back in by itself it has to be pushed back in

Next time you guys decide to have lunch, make sure he drives....When you get out, make sure you slam the door hard enough to blow the window out!.....I HATE door slammers

What worries me is the fact that the door now sounds different when shut compared to the others. The others have a more cushioned sound to them.
