Never happen GM is just to conservative. Cripes, they dropped the ZR-2 and haven't replaced it in years.

 

Looks cool though, but I'd bet the price tag would be in the mid to high $70,000. They couldn't possibly sell that many that would make it worth building at that price. Fords raptor sells at $42000 and with Henessee badges and HP upgrades for another $7000 then if you want it supercharge for 600hp, throw another $6,000 fords way and it's still cheaper than what GM would sell that for.

Add some lockers to the front and rear along with a built in winch and then it will be getting near dethroning the power wagon

Ugly as sin. Put back on normal GMC sheetmetal and trim and then maybe we can talk. Though I do question how well the diesel would do in the desert racing type offroading.

I have to agree with Steven that GM is too conservative to do this. It is just like the Silverado they had at SEMA as opposition for the Raptor. They lifted it and gave it a cool ocncept name...not cool enough cause I can't remember it.

 

However, people do spend close to $70000K on trucks from dealers. A dealership around here has a shop add lift kits, wheels & tires, etc to their trucks and then slap a ridiculous price on them. Some of the diesels are @ $65000+ and are getting bought up. They are nice, but you could do it yourself for a shit-pot cheaper.

yeah they charge a ton but they also have to have reserve money to warranty the parts the mods voided. Joe customer buying that truck isn't going to understand that Ford/GM/Whoever isn't going to fix his 20k mile worn out ball joints so the dealer has to pick up the tab. I'm sure though they are still making a mint otherwise it wouldn't be worth the hassle

I just wish GM would take their half ton 6.2, flare the body out, put fox shocks, a bit of a lift, nice bfg's on it and sell it as the new ZR2. there's nothing wrong with copying Ford on this one. The raptor is a hit and GM could have a piece of it too. Hell they could even claim themselves as the "Originators" because they had Z71 in 1990 (Ford had FX4 in 03) and ZR2 S-10's running around in 95.

they are probably just being a bit conservative after the failures they have had introducing something new (Plastic boxes, Quadrasteer, etc.)

What a sweet truck! They might sell enough to make it worth while and trucks like this do a lot to improve the brand's image, which is a has a value that's hard to put a value on.

Originator of what? FX4 and Z71 have nothing that makes them better dune-runners. And given how option packages work now, the Z71 name is just about meaningless- unless you like stickers. And the general public has too short a memory to give a crap about history anyhow- The Raptor is a great truck IMO, but part of why it's sold so well is because it's the new cool truck. If GM built a similar rig, all the "I gotta have the newest (fill in the blank)" types will probably buy that instead.

it does need smaller wheels, warn winch, a real bed, get rid of the ram box, etc. but its 90% there. and, does it really need to be a denali? you can get a power wagon or raptor in the 40k range.....and ford will supercharge the 6.2 for you for a few grand more...

WOW, my last truck before the Denali HD with the Duramax was a Dodge Power Wagon. I loved the brute value of the PW but missed having the pulling power of a diesel. All of the guys on the Dodge forums listed a diesel as the best possible upgrade for a Power Wagon. GM has nailed it if they produce this concept. It will bury the Power Wagon and Raptor. Can't wait to see more about the concept becoming a production vehicle. Cross your fingers.

You can drive to Ford and buy a Raptor. You can drive to Dodge and buy a Power Wagon. You can print a picture of the GMC Sierra All Terrain to look at, but thats about it
