you got me on that one.. im not sure what that stuff is... hah i am kinda new to this. the shop is doing all of the ordering and installing.

but what does backspace/offset mean? what is good? make any difference? should i suggest a certain setting to the shop?

thanks

Well I can't explain very technically but the more back space (lower number) the further they stick out.

And the further they stick out the more trimming/cutting you will be doing.

Mine are 4.75 backspace and they stick out a good bit. I had to trim a bunch of plastic and beat on some metal.

If they are like 5.5 or 5.7 back space you will do less plastic trimming and I don't think any metal fabrication(ie. Hammer banging)

If you get the 18 offset those are 5.7 bs and you will have minimal trimming.

The other offset I see with the XD Monsters are -12 and those are 4.5 bs. If you get the -12's get ready to cut some metal or at least bang some metal with a hammer.

I didn't listen when I was looking for wheels and I got a 4.75 bs and I added a 1.5 zone and still rub every once in a while.

If it were me I'd make sure to get the 18 offset to keep trimming to a minimum.

ohhh i gotcha. well i will keep that in mind when i go to the shop monday. i dont want them to trim and bang on metal! so i will request a 5.5inch backspace. or something close to it.

I don't think you can "request" less backspacing. It is all going to depend on what wheels you pick out. When I was looking at lifts last year, there was a truck in the shop that just had the BDS 6" and 35" tires, and they rubbed as well. It need some trimming. If it were me, id run 33" tires and be safe. They look great with 6" of lift. Also, you wouldn't have to look into re-gearing for those 35's (which I would if you ran them)

If you are just dead set on 35"tires, you could always add the zone 1.5" bodylift like most people do for around $200. Google some 6" lift with 33" tires and compare them. Like I said, most people who run 35" tires also re-gear.

You should have minimal trimming with the +18 offset. Just make sure thats the wheel the shop orders.
