Bluetooth Issue

Ok, so my phone just started having an issue today. Normally when I turn off my truck the truck's bluetooth will disconnect from my phone. Well I just noticed this morning that it isnt. I got a call on my cell phone earlier and noticed that when i answered I couldnt hear anything on the phone, so I looked at it it was saying that it was still connected to the truck. I turned off the bluetooth on my phone and called back. and then turned on me bluetooth and as soon as I did it reconnected to the truck, which is off and locked. WTF? I wont remember to turn off my bluetootheverytime I get out of my truck and after trying numerous settings in my phone and the truck I still cant seem to resolve the problem.

Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

BTW: phone is a Motorola Droid if it makes a difference.

Thanks

No one has any ideas? Still havent come up with any reasons why it just started it. Haven't changed any settings or any thing recently enough to trigger this.

No issue for me, it's been working flawless. I use both an ear piece and the truck. Both work smooth :sigh:

The only reason I can think of would be that the power is not being turned off when you open the drivers door after shutting the truck off. Does the radio stop when you open the door? Once you get about 30 feet away it will disconnect as well. Mine disconnects as soon as I open the drivers door with the engine off.

mine does as described above...

op may have a driver's door switch possibly failing.

Radio still turns off as normal, but the bluetooth still stays on. I'm gonna watch it when I go into work in the am and see how far I get before it disconnects, because I've tried walking to the opposite side of my house and it still stays connected.

That sounds like suspicously far for a Bluetooth signal to travel. How many feet away would you estimate you were and it stayed connected?

Class 1 Bluetooth spec ranges as far as @300 feet, Class 2 is I think around 32 feet, and Class 3 is real short, like 3 feet. I am only assuming here, but I would think that the truck transceiver is at most Class 2 and more likely Class 1.

Could it be possible you are actually paired/linked to another bluetooth device in your home? Does the Android device show the ID of what you are linked to?

I would bet that when this happens the green lights on your mirror are still on. They should shut off when you open the door. I have had this happen before, when it is not shutting off remove the dash panel and unplug the VCIM for a few minutes then plug it back in. That should reset the module and you will not have any more problems.

I have a range of about 50-60ft. and yes I just looked and the mirror lights are still on. So how do i reset the VCIM, and will that hurt anything else in the truck by doing that?

Not sure on an LTZ, but on my 09 LT Extended cab, the VCIM is not too hard to get to. It is behind the large trim piece that is under the climate controls. It is mounted at a bit of an angle and would not be too hard to unplug and reset it once the trim piece came off. As I recall, to remove the trim piece took a socket and philips screw driver.

Anyone know if pulling the fuse for the module would work as well?

I looked up what fuse this might be in the information I have:

49 INFOTMNT Fuse 15A

Video Display (U42), Rear Video Display

(DNU), Vehicle Communication Interface

Module (VCIM) (UE1)

This fuse is in the underhood fuse box.

Even if pulling the fuse for or unplugging/pluggin the module, it still needs to be known what caused this. I have some literature that explains OnStar and it mentions the green LED can come on to indicate a message. Thats what I think caused mine to stay on one time, Onstar left a message wanting me to renew. I thanked them for the dead battery and told em' never to call again.
