Any Firefighters Out There?

So I just joined the local volunteer fire department and I'm looking for a blue light for my truck and car. Wondered if anyone is a vendor, or has suggestions, pictures, etc. Im looking for LED's. Right now I'm looking at a Signal Mini Phantom Max that tucks under the rear view mirror. Not sure if I want a Mini light bar for the roof, they are kind of pricey. I don't wanna take away from the look of the truck either, if I would find a lightbar would have to be low profile. I do already have a 4 channel strobe light setup in the truck(daytime running lights and reverse lights) Thanks for any pics, advice. Signal Mini Phantom Max

Blue lights are for volunteer firefighters in Pennsylvania. Probably the same in Indiana. Red is for chiefs and asst. chiefs only.

+1 Blue lights for volunteer firefighters POV's in Indiana. Red only on Fire/Rescue trucks.

A lot of the guys around here use these. They mount them either on the grill or behind it. I have been trying to convince myself to get some for myself, but can't talk myself into it.

I ran about every light bar available back in the 90's while I was a volunteer. If I was still active, I'd go with a simple grill layout and something in the windshield and be done with it. I'm in Indiana as well, and all you're doing is asking for courtesy to pass with that light. It carries no emergency clout whatsoever and doesn't really gain you that much with the average driver, unfortunately. Thankfully, Indiana changed the law and stopped requiring a 360 visibility light several years ago.

Your right

Red is for Fire.

Blue is Law Enforcement.

Amber is parking enforcement, tow trucks, traffic control, etc etc.

White and Red is for Ambulance or EMT.

Green is the standard for Command Post.

Thats the North American SAE lighting standard.

Although each State and Province has the jurisdiction over the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations so thats how they get around that standard.

If you look at the new LED products from any of the big vendors like Whelen, Code3, Sound Off, Federal Signal you will find some nice hidden LED's that are clear looking when they are off so they dont ruin the look of your truck then they can go any colour you need when activated.

whelen linz6 from strobesnmore.com. mounted behind my grill look mint. also have a whelen talon blueblue i dont use anymore mounts to window via suction cups 150.

I appreciate that, my point being the SAE standard is blue for Law Enforcement.

But as you say some State's Department of Motor Vehicles has authority and can change blue light to volunteer firefighter

Well I recieved my Signal Soundoff Pinnacle mini light bar tonight. Got it all wired into the truck. Looks good. I am very pleased with it. It has 24 Gen 3 LEDS, Very bright for its size(14 inches by 8 inches) . Im not a salesman but I think this is a good deal for $250 delivered. Every other bar I looked at was $500 and up. Got it from sirennet.com. Here are a few pics. The pics don't do justice for how bright this light is. I had it set on my car to check out the flash patterns. This light bar went on my truck. I cut the cig plug off of it (only 10 feet of cable, not enough for a crew cab) and wired it into a switch on the side of my center console. (also have 4 channel strobe system on another switch next to it). I also had to rework the magnets on the bottom of the light only because my cab has ridges that run the length of the roof and the magnets lined up with these ridges. I took 2 pieces of 1 inch wide, by 1/4 inch thick bar aluminum and made a mount that fits the original screw holes on the light. I then drilled holes in the aluminum to move the magnets out further so they sit on the flat part of the roof. Used stainless steel bolts, washers and nuts so they won't rust up.
