Hello all,

First post here.... :)

I just purchased (Jan 5th) a 08 Sierra SLT Z71 extended cab. It was off lease with very low mileage (49 K KMS - 30K Miles). It still has it's 3/60 warranty but it expires Feb 2nd of this year. Great shape - like the guy never drove it.

I would like to take it in and have the local dealer do a "once over" and replace/fix anything that can be done before the warranty is over.

In the first week of ownership I have noticed a few things:

1) I will sometimes get a BUZZ noise when travelling down the road, I can hear it more when coasting on the highway, releasing the gas, then applying the pedal again....it best sounds like the heat shield is rattling under the front left of the vehicle - does'nt seem to do it all the time - more when it's cold out like it has been here over the last few days - anyone else ever experience this?

2) Notice the steering is a slight off center.....very slight but I can tell - I wonder if they will align under warranty?

3) Passanger door molding is peeling off at the front - the dealer I purchased it from (not GM dealer) tried to fix it but it's still loose...I'll ask the dealer to fix.

That's all so far......is there anything else you could suggest they look at??

All your help and knowledge is appreciated!!

Cheers

Welcome!!

On your 2nd issue.....No,they will not align it under warranty with 30k on it,now if you had another issue such as a bad tie-rod end,and they replaced the tie-rod end under warranty then they would align it also as part of the repair.

On the 3rd issue.......I don't see why they wouldn't take care of that for you under warranty.

I can't help you on your first issue,I've never heard of it.

Thanks for the info and hello's......

I am going to schedule a visit for next week....so even after they do a "check" and address my concerns, I will still have a couple weeks left.

#1 rattle is a hose to close to the dipstick tube on the left side of engine. Zip tie the hose to something to make it stop. Mi.e did it too. Its common.

NBSGMC - your suggestion seems to have worked! I did see the hose/cable touching the tranny dip tube - moved it with my hand for now (will tie it later) and no noise this morning

I have booked Monday morning for the dealer....another thing I noticed this morning is a very high pitch noise coming from what seems like the driver side vents/dash - kind of like a electronic high pitch or when your AM radio is a bit off the station....it's very high (think dog whistle). At first I though it was the radio - turned it off - still there...then I thought it might be the heater fan - turned that off as well.....still there....even dimmed the dashboard lights - still there.

The noise is only when driving - mainly under power - nothing when stopped at a light

As a test I disengaged the tranny to Neutral while moving....it stopped - but started again when in Drive. The noise is so high (but I hear it even with abused rock and roll ears) that I'm afraid the dealer will not hear it.

Any ideas??

Thanks for all the warm welcome guys..... beer.jpg

I noticed on the drive in this morning the "high pitch" noise only seems to be heard between 60-80 kms/h....once I'm over 80 or so it seems to disappear.

Anyone notice this hard to hear high pitch??

More on this issue - the high pitch is heard ONLY UNDER ACCELERATION or when the Gas Pedal is pressed. I can reproduce it while sitting in the garage in park and pressing the pedal into the 2K RPM mark.

Once again - it's very faint and very high.....like a electronic high pitch noise...barely audible - you can only hear it when turning your head a certain way....... Anyone else ever head this.....?? 08 Sierra SLT 5.3

Truck goes into the dealer Monday morning....so any help in pinpointing the issue is appreciated.

Cheers

Rob
