Protection From The Cold Weather

Recommended Posts

I currently live in Phoenix AZ and I am considering moving to Salt Lake City in a few months, I was wondering what I can do to protect my truck from the colder and wetter climate. I'm thinking along the lines of protection from salt that might be put down on the roads in winter and just having more moisture in the air than Phoenix.

I remember seeing a couple guys on TV once talk about a product that you spray inside the wheel well and perhaps along the underside of the truck for protection.

I don't think it really makes a difference but I drive a 2006 crew cab 2WD.

Any help would be great, thanks.

What areas are you talking about? Frame, paint, rims?

I use the following product on my paint. It is a very good and durable sealant. Water still beads for quite some time

For my rims I apply this wheel glaze about every 4-6 wks

I'm relly just concerned with any area that could rust or rot from the cold or moisture. (frame, suspension, exhaust, paint etc.) I've never lived in colder climates so I don't really know how the truck will be affected.

Any ideas or suggestions you might have would be great.

I think the best thing to do is wash it frequently to keep the salt off. They salt the roads up here till the pavements white. I usually wash it every couple weeks in the winter and haven't ever had an issue with my last 3 trucks rusting.
