Getting Off Old Wax

Recommended Posts

Posted

I was slightly intoxicated last time I waxed (In August) and I got a little out of control and got some on the plastic of the tailgate cap, part that connects mirror to door, lower valence under bumper. Now how do I get the dried white old wax off that. I know it'll be pretty hard.

I had a buddy tell me to get creamy peanut butter and smear a little on the spots and rub it around, then wash it off and the oils in it would get rid of it. But there has to be a better way than that?

Any suggestions?

I've never tried the pencil eraser method (I actually never heard of it). I will have to try it in Spring. I have used black shoe polish and it does work, but it only lasts for a couple of months though, depending on how often it rains.

Rub peanut butter on it. The oil in the peanut butter will dissolve the dried wax.

Awesome guys, thanks alot. The wax spot has been bugging the piss out of me. I can't wait for it to get a little warmer so I can wash it up and get it clean again. I take it you're talking about a pencil eraser like the Pink Pearl eraser? The big ones? Guess I'll try the peanut butter and eraser to see which one works better!

Tip, never wax your truck while intoxicated as it make things look pretty until you look at it the next day and this goes for everything including girls.
