Flex Fuel And Ethanol

With regular gas being sold with 10% ethanol, will a flex fuel motor run better on regular than a non flex fuel motor?

 

Looking at buying an 07/08 and just trying to figure out if flex fuel is something I want even though I'll never burn e85

No the current non flex fuel engines are tuned for E10. The less Ethanol you use the better fuel economy you will get.

Flex fuel engine vehicles come with stainless fuel lines and other components, higher capacity fuel pump, and some other mods. To me it is worth getting one, as you never know what the exact content of ethanol in the gas is. Some gas stations cheat, they have found as much as 40 % ethanol by volume as some gas stations here in Florida. In this case, your engine will be protected if it is flex fuel type.

40%????? Wow next time I'm in Florida I'm keeping my receipts so I can get my money back. I do have a flex fuel motor so protecting my engine is covered but who's protecting my wallet????
