I got my truck back!

Well I finally got my Blazer back last night.  Took the dealership a week, part of that time was waiting for the warranty inspector to ok the repair.  I thought it might have been a bad lifter (my Grandpa thought that too).  Turns out it needed a new crankshaft and bearings.  It has the remote oil filter that is standard on 4WD Blazers.  The oil cooling lines burst a few weeks prior to this while I was driving down the road.  I turned her off right when I saw the oil pressure gauge needle heading south, but that wasn't soon enough.  When I got it back from replacing the oil cooling lines, the engine was making a noticable ticking sound.  I dropped it off at the dealership on Sunday night, the 13th.  I got a call Monday morning stating that it is probably a rod bearing  :P .  I authorized the teardown, and by Tuesday evening they new that it needed a brand new crankshaft and bearings.  They called my extended warranty company which then sent out an inspector.  He didn't get there to check it out until Thursday morning, and thankfully they gave it the go ahead.  New Crankshaft and bearings came in on Friday, and were put in my engine.  The engine was put back in my truck on Monday morning, and ball joints replaced.  I got it back at 6PM Monday  :)    :D .  I needed it back, I couldn't take driving around in my Dad's Neon much longer.  It cost me a little over $200, I have a $100 deductable and I got an engine flush.  I'm going to treat it like a brand new engine, and go easy on it during break in.  I will be giving it an oil change in 500 miles, I'll put regular Dino in then, and at 3,000 miles I'll toss some Mobil 1 or Amsoil in, haven't decided yet.  I'm just very pleased to have my truck back.

Sounds like what could have been a HORRIBLE experience was relatively painless and the repair/warranty folks lived up to their end of the bargain....glad you have it back...

Fantastic!  I love the remote oil filters on those trucks as it makes it insanely easy to change the oil, but bursted oil lines are one of their vices.

Had to take it back in after school, they realigned my front end after put in all new ball joints, upper and lower.  They forgot to set the steering wheel straight before they did it.  I would have been fine with it, but if I take my hand off the wheel my truck wants to go left, into on coming traffic, so I took it back.  They realigned it within 30 minutes.  Was browsing on the sales side and saw that dealership has hitch covers.....might try and pick up a free one since it's free advertising for them.

If you figure out how to get something free from a dealership, by all means, please share how with the rest of us!

Heck, I had a heck of a time getting the dealer to pay me back for antifreeze because they didn't reclamp my upper radiator hose and it blew off spraying anti-freeze all over my engine compartment.  Even then the guy only offered me free oil changes despite the fact I told him 5 times that I changed my own oil.  If you can get something free by all means let us in on the secret.

It's Rockenbach out in Grayslake.  Kind of a haul for me, I have two Chevy dealers within 2 miles of my house, one I wouldn't use, one I would but their service is always busy, they need at least a two week time before they'll be open to work on your truck, so I take it to Rockenbach, I've got a great service advisor.  My steering wheel was off center after they gave it an alignment so I went back in and the took care of it.  I've got to take it back today, they did it to much, they have to back off whatever they did by 50% and it should be dead on.  What type of free swag are we talking about here?

It's not uncommon for Chevy's, especially fullsize to need a front end rebuild sometime after 50k miles.  Not all, but a good majority.

Mine was so bad that when driving down the highway, my steering wheel was cocked at the 2pm position just to keep the truck straight.

Free swag includes, t-shirts, portable insulated coffee mugs, keychains, etc, etc.
