Chevy Vs Gmc

This may have been answered already, but I tried searching, and couldnt come up with anything... Anyway is there really a difference in the paint colors of Chevy and GMC??? Is Victory Red the same as Fire Red and just named differently, or is a completely different paint? Same with the other colors...It seems black and white are the only "common" colors between them.. I know marketing likes to do their thing to make it seem brand specific, so thats why I ask, and they both seem to have the same basic colors, just named different

Don't know about red, but storm gray (GMC) is the same as taupe gray (Chev)

Thats what I thought, but someone recently told me that there is a slight difference in the paints... I couldnt believe that they would do that, but who knows.. Thats why I asked

What is really interesting is today I changed the grill on my truck and the upper bumper plastic had a sticker that said victory red on it, I forgot to get a picture, and mine is a GMC so the paint color is called fire red, basically proves only difference is in marketing.

GMC vs Chevy paint codes are even more confusing for me. I have the Silverado Taupe Gray which is the equivalent to the GMC Storm Gray. Both are paint code "ggw." But when I decided to order a tube of touch-up paint from the dealer, I gave them the code ggw and my vin. When the touch-up came it was labeled "DARK LABYRINTH METALLIC." and had the ggw paint code on it. This was GM brand touch-up. I had a small chip on the hood, so I touched it up and the paint was a perfect match. So taupe gray and storm gray have a long lost cousin, dark labyrinth metallic.

Yeah, that's what my bottle of GGW touchup paint calls it too. I've seen the GGW paint code go by Taupe Gray Metallic (Chevy), Storm Gray Metallic (GMC), Dark Labyrinth Metallic (GMC), and Galaxy Gray Metallic (Cadillac). That's why I just go by the paint code, much easier than keeping up with all the different names the marketing guys keep coming up with for the same color.
