Hey guys, I'm running ultra motorsport goliath balck 17x8 wheels... Is it possible to put some sensors in there so my truck doesn't bitch everty time I start up or that little light in the dash goes away ? Or is there another trick to get rid of that ? Not that it's a big problem, but I'd like it better if there was no trouble messages and lights lighting up my dash... THx

Yes, you can put put them in there without issue. They'll stick out from the rim a little but they'll work fine :dunno:

Stevens11 is correct.. I put them in my new rims and had them calibrated to my new pressure...65lbs... also I found online a set that were chrome so they blend in..don't remeber from where. I just typed in ""chrome GM TPMs"" into bing.com :dunno:

GM tpm sensors will not work with every aftermarket wheel, even if it mounts into the wheel correctly. If the sensor does not mount at a similar angle, as it did in the factory wheel, or if it is mounted in the center of the wheel instead

of in the bead area, it will for sure not work correctly.

Mine are mounted dead center of my wheels and has been fine for a year...maybe lucky..

Maybe. Never had a set work on a set of wheels like that, myself. Tire composition has a lot to do with it too.

Actually, there are a ton of factors that will affect this systems performance.

I bought the truck used... so I don't have them anymore... but isw the dealer gonna rip me off with a crazy price and I should go aftermarket or is it cheaper at the dealer ?

I like to stay with factory stuff myself, if it screws up any dealer can fix it or warrenty them. There are alot of GM stores online.

I believe the factory sensors are made by DILL if I remember correctly. Just do some research on the brands, and you should be fine, expect to spend about $50-$75 though

and thats PER sensor

I saw some on ebay, 69.95 for a set of 4... I'm coming back home in 2 weeks dor my vacations, I'll go see at the dealer, and if it'S crazy there, I'll go with internet!

I've beeen using aftermarket ORANGE ELECTRONIC sensors this winter in my winter tires, The part number for them is SC4101 with absolutrely no problems. They are programmable and I have cloned the numbers off my GM sensors so that I can switch back and forth with my summer rims and tires without reprogramming. One thing to consider is that more of the aftermarket sensors have adjustable angle stems so that they fit in more rim sizes and styles, whereas the OEM sensors (made by Schrader I believe) are at a fixed angle. I paid about $150 CDN for the set.

good to know, thanks... where did you get them ? And is it complicated to reprogram/make em fit with my truck ? I don't have my original sensors so...

I ran 3 different sets of aftermarket wheels on my truck (AR, Ultra and BMF) with 3 different sets of tires. Each time I ordered a $70 set of OEM sensors off of eBay and never had an issue with them.

Calibration was easy. I normally used to tool at the shop after I put the sensors in... but I was always able to calibrate using the procedure in the owners manual when I did tire rotations at home.

To clone a set you need the originals or two sets of programmable sensors. I actually have a programmer that I bought from Orange which will do any of their sensors and read anybody else's sensors. You still need to get the ID numbers into you system through a reprogram from your DIC and follow the instructions in your owners manual. The programmer I have will activate any sensor (except the magnetically activated ones) so you do not have to let air in and out to get the reprogram done. The programmer was about $200 but I use it on multiple vehicles and its alreday paid for itself.

I believe the best place to get the sensors in the states is through Amazon, but please get new ones no matter who's sensors you get as the battery life is limited and the batteries are NOT replacable in anyone's sensors. If the batteries only last 5-7 years then buying used sensors is a waste of money.
