Burn Out!

Now that i have your attention, the other day just out of curiosity i wanted to see how easy the truck would perform a brake torque. here is how it went

1. turn traction control off

2. step on brake

3. floor skinny pedal.

4. truck felt like it wanted to pull through braking power but didn't spin tires.

whats the deal here? im not a little kid who likes doing burnouts everywhere but it did make me wonder...

i traded in a 2004 dodge cummins where anything more then 1/4 throttle meant roasting tires...

lets get some specs on what you're driving..

hold the traction button for 30-40seconds and the dash will say "stability control disabled" then give it a shot. Oh ya, and make sure you're in 2wd LOL

It's only ten seconds isn't it? Not that it really matters though. But your right, having the SC off will make a difference.

Yeah. what engine and what gears, some factory setups just don't have the torque to spin the rear wheels when there on pavement and held by the brakes even with a tune and all the traction stuff off.

as far as the truck goes, its a 2008 SLT 5.3 flex all stock, minus the RC level that sitting in my garage haha. i believe it has 3.73 gears as well.

so just pushing the traction control button turns the TC off then if u hold it it takes the SC off?

so what is this torque management?

Torque Management is something programmed into many trucks to tune down the amount of torque used in take off situations, to prevent damage to the drivetrain. With Engines now pushing 300+ HP and without torque management, it would be very easy for someone to spin the tires from a stop, even when they did not want to. Spinning tires of course means the truck will not be accelerating quickly enough to possibly get out of danger should a sudden acceleration be needed. The computers have torque management programmed in so that it's tuned down a bit from a stop.

when you floor your tuck the blade on the TB is not open all the way. It slowly opens. When you get it tuned and take out 100% of TM its like having a cable again! Thats one reason tune open up so much low end hp! I can turn off traction control and stable lock off and floor my truck and it will just go with no spinning but when i get to the top end of 1st gear when the TB is open all the way it wants to spin more at 20mph then 0mph lmao!!!

I HATE TORQUE MANAGEMENT!!!!!!

I have no problems spinning the tires on command..... '07 GMT900 5.3L 4sp 3.73's --bone stock drivetrain--

Exactly, I can't even make a hard start without accidentally spinning them, I raced a dodge(hemi) yesterday and went sideways off the line on accident, didn't catch back up to him until I was doing 30, sometimes I wish I had TC.

yeah, if im at a stand still and just smash the gas the rear end sits down grabs hold and just launches. its kinda nice by both my cummins and my hemi were burn out machines!!! haha, kinda miss it.
