This is amazing. I never thought there would be a way to complicate an oil change. I gave up and have the dealer do it, only beacuse I'd need three types of oil sitting around just for my trucks, not to mention my quads beacuse of the extended warrenty Yamaha recommends a certain type and I don't want to void it, My 2010 takes a type, My 2011 takes a new type, My S-10 takes something completly different. :P

Dexos is backwards compatible. You could use it in all three of your vehicles without issue.

Yeah I understand, its the price to buy a case is all I ment. Sorry for not putting that in, just got on a rant. I only run Red Line Full Synthetic in my S-10.

What I dont get is Amsoils dexos 1 offerings, the signature series which is supposed to be their best oil doesn't list as being dexos 1 but they have two that are, OE and XL, I guess maybe I am just not understanding dexos but it just seems strange when an oil company says this is our best oil and GM says it isnt good enough but from that same oil company for half the price you can get one that gm says is good enough. At the end of the day I plan to void the hell out of my powertrain warranty with a blackbear tune, autocal is on the way, and as such I have a case of amsoil signature series that isnt dexos 1 that will be going in this weekend.

That's the point I brought up, I did some Research on O'Reilly's Website and on OUR Truck WITH the AC Delco PF48 Filter, It will cost $47.12 PLUS TAX (9.75% TN Sales Tax)with Quaker State, and a WHOPPING $58.26 PLUS TAX with Pennzoil! so in other words, if you buy a 2011 GM Vehicle, your Wallet BETTER BE FAT.

Valvoline is doing the right thing. Why should GM be making any money off of you buying a quart of oil from K-mart? This whole idea of charging an oil company just so they can say they meet the standards is at best a form of extortion. Too bad the oil companies did not all get together and simply refuse to rent the license from GM. Also noticed that the rate is not a static rate, it is based on your market position. The higher your market share, the higher the percentage you get to pay. Hell of a way to market your product.

Whoa. Those two oils are Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Ultimate Durability...where the hell do you live that they are $6-$8 a quart?!?!? Hell, I did a run of Quaker State Ultimate Durability before going to Mobil 1 and the jug cost me $19 and the single quart was $4 and some change. AC Delco filter is $3.50. That's roughly $29.00 with tax for the whole oil change. It's the best Dexos bargain.

Amsoil is doing the same thing as Valvoline, btw. They are compatible but not as far as GM is concerned.

BTW, remind me to never move to Tennesee.
