well, somebody has finally done an In Depth tour of a F-150 EGOBoost Truck! let me know what you guys think, and lets try to keep the Flame War to a MINIMUM.

I paused it when he got to the sticker....36K no way and it has a 3:15 rear gear... also the 5yr/60k warranty..with twin turbos I'd want more. I drag race and have seen what a damage a broken turbo blade can do. The plastic intake tubes seem a bit cheap too.

With that being said, the truck looks great and the color isn't bad.

You think Ford would have learned about their twin turbos and the problems from the 6l diesel.

I don't hate Ford, my dad has an F450 King Ranch and its great, but this whole turbo for economy thing seems like down the road will be more problems then it was worth when things start breaking.

If anyone pays MSRP for a common-line pickup then they deserve to be ripped off. The MSRP on all trucks is stupid high and Ford is no exception. As for the axle gears, Ford lets you pick a wider range of gears on the F-150- from 3.15-4.10 depending on the model and options. As for the warranty, I've gone over this before- GMs warranty will benefit drivers who do lots of miles yearly whereas Fords is closer to the average for most folks. It depends on how much you drive as to which warranty you'll get the most "use" out of. And Ford didn't build the diesels over the past years, Navistar did. Based on the actual drive videos I've seen online, the EB engine is pretty damn strong, it'd probably give any GM truck a run for it's money in a race. But, there will still enough things I didn't care for about the F150 and that's why I'm still here instead of a Ford forum.

First thing that struck me was how cheap the door panels look. The ones on my old 01 F150 were much nicer. The engine sounds like a sewing machine to my ears. The whole look of the truck just feels cheap to me, especially the interior. Nope, not for me.

Over-hyped and under delivers.

36K no way and it has a 3:15 rear gear...

Well...if Ford offered another gear with the TwinForce boat anchor...say...the same rear gear they offer with the 5.0, the (fake) fuel economy "gains" over the V8 would be eliminated. Remember, Ford has a HUGE ad campagin for this non-existent "V8 power with V6 economy" claim. They have to keep that notion alive.

And, yes, it would be nice if Ford stood behind their product. They make all the claims about durability and reliability...but when the rubber hits the road, they know it won't be reliable just like we do.

I went on Fords site and "built my own" and the other gear ratios are "Electronically controlled limited slip" so they are just like the nanny on the GMT-900's.. eco over performance.

Also when i did up the ratio it took away 4 wheel drive and moved the truck up in trim level.. thats horse shit.. if you want real world performance.. towing, hauling etc, then you have to take a 2 wheel drive or an up level truck.

So I guess my point is Ford is going to lose the people who want a usable work truck and there claimed fuel economy.

Just my opinon, not an argument starter.

3.15 is fine when you're talking turbo IMO.

Agreed. With the torque curve of this engine, it should pull the tall gear just fine.

Long time "Guest" First time poster.

To clarify, the Ford 3:73 is a full locker controlled by a dash switch. Of course it has electronic nannys - turns off over 30mph, and when a turning radius is too tight (not sure how tight though). Otherwise, the driver controls it. Its better than the somewhat useless limited slip I have, which is slightly better then the totally useless open rear. I think Toyota had a similar set-up on some Tacos. Not sure how GM "locks" its rears.

I believe Ford offers up to 3.73 gears.

But, (and this is a guess), I bet you dollars to doughnuts that the reason Ford doesn't offer the 3.15 gears with the 5.0 V8 is because then it would be getting the EXACT SAME mileage as the high-strung TwinForce V6.

The GM/Eaton locker is inertial. Locks/unlocks completely mechanically... with no electronics. Works very well.
