New Truck Order Tracking

From Eric yesterday:
1. I had to call the dealer business center yesterday to check on one of my Camaro's that has been sitting in Oshawa since the 2nd and was told that there is a NATION WIDE SHORTAGE of railcars... she couldnt tell me why there is a shortage, but I would imagine it has to do w/ getting caught up from the trucking transport deboggle... Just an FYI that it may take a little longer to get your vehicles...

2. Metallic paint is going to be very hard to come by!!!! We currently can NOT order metallic paint on the Silverado Heavy Duty trucks and this constraint may be extended to additional lines if the suppliers in Japan can not get us product (this is a industry wide problem not just GM)

Just to clarify. Metallic paint shortage should not affect Trucks in production already..only a constraint on new orders being submitted.

I've heard about the metallic paint shortage thing and considering mine was ordered and accepted before all of this, I hope it doesn't affect my delievery date. (fingers crossed that FTW doesn't run out of Sheer Silver before my truck is built lol).

My status went to 4200 ( shipped) on the 12th... so I guess I got lucky with the rail car problem... With some luck I am hoping it can come in without any problems

Crew cabs manufactured in Flint MI. Extra and regular cabs manufactured in Ft Wayne IN.

No if you are already in the accepted for production status then you should be fine. I will let you know if we hear any further developments. Larry

I'm new here and hopeful for some help. I hit 3800 on the 13th of this month. Now I'm curious how, and if, I can continue to track my vehicle. I'm not sure how long to wait before checking for a rail car number etc. Like most, I feel like I'm bothering m dealer by asking him all these questions.

Brandon, sorry but we do not get logistics information on GMC's. So at this point its up to your dealer and customer service to help you out. No window sticker is showing up yet so I dont think it has shipped yet but you can use this link and keep trying. Its the chevy window sticker viewing site but all the info will be correct when it shows up.

No window sticker is showing up yet so I dont think it has shipped yet but you can use this link and keep trying. Its the chevy window sticker viewing site but all the info will be correct when it shows up.

As of last week, I had to change the colour of my truck because of the problems in Japan. The colour selection that GM has isn't all that great to begin with and now this happens. Maybe the Big 3 should start thinking about having all their suppliers here in North America. Just to let you know Larry, that GM Canada phone number you gave me did the same thing as talking to my salesman. Wish we had a tracking system for Canada also. Thanks. Bob

Bob keep trying the customer service number. Sooner or later you will get a good Service Rep and they will do a good job taking care of you. Honestly, I have heard many good things about them from many customers...But like you sometimes they just get one of the check collectors who are just putting in their shift so they can go home and watch tv with the wife. If they are not seeming like they want to help you out then ask to talk to a supervisor...

Paint constraints are now all brands and all models. GRAY, Blue and Red Metallics are now included. Constraint runs thru 5-11 but the word I have is that it is expected to last for a long time. I guess we will be seeing a lot of White, and Black Trucks for a while. Larry

Anyone know how long it takes to ship from Silao to PA??? I have been stuck at 4200 since the 12th, about 10 days already with no change in status from GMConnects, no interim delivery or anything...Just wondering how long it generally takes, becasue I saw some people getting them within a week or so from 4200..

From MX to PA is about 10 to 14 days in most cases. You are right in that window. But it is possible that the train was sidetracked for a repair along the way but without a railcar number we have no way to verify that occurance. You can of course have your Dealer call the Dealer Business Center and they will either provide the railcar number to your dealer or at the very least give him the location and status of the railcar. good luck Larry

THanks Larry, I called GM customer Service to get a location since my dealer seems to be pretty useless in this regard..I called him before a few days before I posted this and he never got back to me.. Anyway I called GM yesterday and they said my truck just got unloaded from the rail car Friday in Lordstown, Ohio..I guess it should only be a few more days unitl it comes into the dealership by truck..Lordstown OH, is a straight shot right across I-80 to my dealership. Although Im sure the transport truck will have other stops to make..
