New Truck Order Tracking

I ordered a GMC Sierra 3/18 of this month and I called the dealer a couple days after and they didn't have an order number yet, how long does it usually take to get one?

As stated above...Order number is available the instant they enter it into the system. Many dealerships have an inventory manager that does this process so it might be the following Monday if you ordered on a Saturday but in no situation should it take weeks to get an order number. I bet if you follow up you already have one but your salesman does not or has not taken the steps to get it from the GSM or IM. Larry

Thanks!, Just got back from the dealership and got my number and I am tracking it!

I must be getting screwed over. I ordered a truck on Jan 17, and the dealer can't even tell me when it's coming in. Nine weeks is way to long to wait for a truck. It's not like I ordered anything exotic, just a 1500 extended cab. I'm about to call them up and tell them to cancel the order. I hear the EcoBoost F150s are nice.

Well, I found out why it is taking so long. I placed the order with the dealer on 17Jan, the dealer placed the order on 10Feb. Why in the world would they wait nearly a month to put my order in? The incentives were much better back in Feb; do they take a hit on the incentives? I'm not sure why they waited, but bottom line my truck is going to cost me potentially a couple grand more because they drug their feet.

Not sure exactly what you mean. Post up your order number so I can see the history. Perhaps they waited until they had available allocation to place the order. Did it go right from 1100 to 2000? If so that would probably be the case. I agree. waiting on a truck is a pain in the rear...At least now it should be moving along. Larry

Placed my order with the dealership today. I entered my order number incorrectly and now have 2 orders to track. Can you tell me how to remove the incorrect one from the chevroletconnects site please?

Mcpraven,

Have you read about the problem between GM and Allied transport and the lawsuit? This may be why your truck is delayed in shipment. 3/24/2011 was right around when things went bad at Fort Wayne. I'm waiting for mine also and mine is at 3800.

General Motors and Chrysler have sued Allied Systems Holding Inc., accusing the auto hauler of "holding hostage" more than 2,400 new cars and trucks.

GM, in a lawsuit filed on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Detroit, charged that Allied breached a contract under which it provides car-hauling services for the U.S. automaker.

"Defendant is holding hostage 1,704 new GM vehicles, with an estimated value of $46.6 million," according to the lawsuit. "It simply has no claim to the vehicles; they are GM's property."

In a separate suit, Chrysler said Allied was holding about 700 of its vehicles.

Allied, which calls itself the largest auto transporter in North America, could not be reached for comment.

GM is seeking immediate return of the vehicles, which include Chevrolet Silverado pickups and Camaro coupes, so it can fill orders. The value of the vehicles will depreciate and customer relations could be hurt if Allied continues to hold them, the lawsuit said. The automaker also is seeking unspecified damages.

could be the problem . I thought they worked the problem out and were back to work. oh well maybe I'm not supposed to have a new truck.LOL

The Ft Wayne assembly plant never shut down. In fact they added a 3rd shift. Gm did find another transport company, Jack Cooper Transport. Gm parked trucks from the assembly line for 2 days in a lot on site. My guess is they are trying to catch up with shipments. Do a Google search on "GM sues Allied". We just have to be patient and enjoy our great new trucks when we get them. I have a GMC Sierra 3500HD,ext cab, long bed, 4WD, DRW, Duiramax/Allison, loaded with almost evey option available to pull my 2010 Mobile Suite 17,500 lbs 5th wheel trailer.

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
