My 2010 silverado didn't come with an auto dimming rear view mirror.... anyone out there add one to their GMT900 that didn't come with one from the factory???

if so, what parts did you order, and how hard was the installation?

I have put several auto-dimming mirrors in various GM vehicles. I bought most of them from eBay or some Toyota Dealer down in Florida (had/has? good prices on the same). All were made by Gentek. The last one I installed was a GENK26A (into a 2009 Cobalt), it included temp and compass in the upper corner. Installation is plug-n-play and un-bolt and bolt in, can't get much easier. I would reccomend taking a look at the plug in your mirror and look for a Gentek mirror with the features you want and the plug you need. Oh yes, I did have to run one wire on some vehicles and of course the wires for a temp probe if adding.

IIRC, Gentek makes em' for GM and others....

I know the Sonoma and the other GM's are not a GMT900 but this is a very easy mod for most other GM's so I bet a stock non-dimming mirror to auto-dim should be pretty easy.

nevermind, found the part number: 15816792

I got mine from Schrams, Look on the side of this page, it was from a 2008 Cadillac CTS-V, They have the same setup we do.. Temp/Compass in the dash. I paid like 50 for it. Plugged in and that was it. My Onstar and car phone are fine. Only tools are a T-20 Torx and a small screw driver to release the locks on the plug.

very simple install, I added it to my 07 so that also added temp and compass but you won't need that...the only thing you may need is a power wire for auto dim, but the onstar power may even be enough
