New Rims And Tires Effecting Ride

I recently went from the sock 16 inch rims to some after market 18's.

 

The tire I was running was the 295/75/16 BF Goodrich A/T

I'm now running a 285/75/18

 

 

I noticed the ride on my truck isnt as smooth as it once was.

 

Is there anything that could be wrong or what is the best way to get that smooth ride back.

I have Rancho shocks on it currently.

Yes, bigger tires with more sidewall.

Yea, I think it's more your tires than your wheel size. That's why the trucks come with Goodyear/Bridgestones to give it that "soft" ride. Let me guess, you upgraded to a harder A/T right? Nothing will bring back that ride until you change your tires.

Is it another BFG A/T? Is so, did you change from a P to a LT tire? If it is an LT, what is the load rating? If you went with something crazy like an E-rated tire, nothing will fix it.

i dont think you need a bigger tire!! cause it aint much difference in wheel sidewall from a 295/75 to a 285/75 rim size dont make a difference in those numbers you're talking about 0.75cm in sidewall difference! its NOTHING its like 1/4 of an inch.... what is causing your ride to be stiffer is the type of tires you're running... for example.. my truck came with 35x12.5r18 nitto mud grapplers... and hated the truck! stiff as hell..... changed tires to 35x12.5r18 bf goodrich's mudd-terrain and it feels like a different truck! same size just different tire....

tires are probably a different load rating

#1) make sure you take off the rotor retaining clips. They don't let aftermarket wheels sit flush with the hub and cause vibrations.

 

#2) check your air pressure. If you're running over 40psi you're likely over inflated which makes it like rolling on rocks.
